JohnnyBax has been the ultimate staple of the PocketFives online poker community for 17 months---he became the number 1 player in our rankings on April 18th, 2005, and he held the spot until September 18th, 2006. In addition to being the poster boy for excellence in online poker, he's also been and continues to be an example for all in regards to class as an individual and representation of the online poker community. Few, if any, online poker players have had or will ever have the success of JohnnyBax. It's hard to forget the night he won both of the two biggest rebuy poker tournaments on the net---the $30R on Paradise Poker and the $10R on PokerStars. It's hard to forget him winning the 2005 TLB with the highest score ever. It's hard to forget him showing up for the World Series of Poker Stud event and taking the whole thing down---and the excitement that surrounded that on the PocketFives forums. It's hard to forget more than half a million in cashes on Stars since the beginning of 2005. It's hard to forget all the online poker final tables he's made and the wins he's booked across the other major sites.
Ari has some big shoes to fill...But he's doing a pretty good job of it, so far. In the last year, he's successfully made the transition from cash games to poker tournaments, and it's led him to hundreds of thousands in profits. His September 2006 accomplishments include a win in the Full Tilt $200 HORSE, a win in the $90k guaranteed on Paradise, a split of the PartyPoker Saturday $300, a win in the PartyPoker $2,000 added $100, and a win in the PokerRoom Weekly Big Deal.
Overall, Ari is well deserving of this promotion to the number one ranked online poker tournament player. But the PocketFives Staff would like to say hats off to JohnnyBax, an online poker legend who continues to prove himself every week.
JohnnyBax appeared on the September 28 edition of the PocketFives.com Podcast (www.pocketfives.com/podcast). His insights lend the amateur player an insight into the mind of one of the best online poker players anywhere.
