Allen
AawwNutz Carter (pictured), a PocketFives.com member since February 2005, took down the Southern Poker Championship in the early morning hours of Sunday for $1,025,500! Allen outlasted a field of over 280 players in the Main Event and played passively during the first part of final table play before becoming more aggressive as more players were eliminated. After tournament action had ended in Biloxi, Mississippi, PocketFivesLive reporter Jessica
doomswitch83 Welman said the following regarding Allen's victory: "[He] spent the first half of the final table laying low and staying out of chip leader Soheil Shamseddin's way. He kicked up the aggression at just the right time though and played some great heads up poker to take down the event." Allen Carter would eventually defeat Bobby Suer heads-up for the championship.

Tyler
Tydean Smith (pictured left) was eliminated in 5th place for $134,500 in an all-in situation where eventual champion AawwNutz held
Q

and Tyler had A

and didn't improve. PocketFivesLive reporter doomswitch83 said, "Tyler had an unfortunate seat draw for the final table with Allen Carter and the unpredictable Shamseddin seated to his left. Had he won that coin flip instead of Allen, he just as easily could have walked away with the title. After the event concluded, Carter said Smith was easily his toughest competition at the final table which I think speaks volumes about Tyler's talent."
