Starting today, PocketFives.com is making it easy for online poker players to relocate to poker-friendly countries. We’d like to introduce you to Poker Refugees, a brand new service to help displaced poker players in the United States and elsewhere take refuge in countries like Costa Rica, Panama, and Canada. The extremely affordable service will help Americans, and anyone else who is interested in relocating, play on sites like PokerStars again in no time. Learn how.

Poker Refugees offers a variety of services, including one-on-one interviews with clients, guidance on how to play on sites like PokerStars and Betfair, high-speed internet with a backup connection, detailed requirements and tips for setting up a local bank account, a selection of quality properties to choose from, complimentary airport pickup, referrals to competent English-speaking professionals in your chosen country, and guidance on how to buy a car or get a long-term rental.

Kristin Wilson is the brains behind Poker Refugees and makes her home in Costa Rica. She holds an MBA and, since 2005, has helped hundreds of people relocate, retire, and start businesses in Central America. She’s been in the online poker industry for the last decade and has specialized in Costa Rican leasing for the last three years. If you have any doubts about her credentials, know that she is a member of the Costa Rica Global Association of Realtors, which is recognized by the USA’s National Association of Realtors.

Rather than tackle a complex move by yourself, let Poker Refugees do the legwork for you. If you go it alone, you’ll be saddled with tasks like deciphering complex government forms for visas and real estate transactions. You’ll probably pay more than you need to for local services and might have difficulty finding trustworthy and capable local lawyers, accountants, and medical professionals.

Instead of spending time doing what you’re good at – grinding online – you’ll have to tackle all of the tasks that Poker Refugees could be doing for you. Remember, any time you move to a new country, there’s a steep learning curve. In the process, you run the risk of getting scammed, moving into an unsafe neighborhood, and being left with unreliable internet. Not so with Poker Refugees!

With our service, you’ll get one point of contact, everything you need to get on PokerStars and other non-U.S. sites, bank account assistance, direct access to experts with decades of combined real estate and relocation experience, and, perhaps most importantly, someone to guide you every step of the way.

Currently, we’re featuring three countries as part of Poker Refugees: Costa Rica, Panama, and Canada. If you head to the former, you can expect a widespread population of English-speaking citizens, an eclectic set of restaurants and nightlife options, a high volume of flights to and from the United States, and the ability to be at the beach in under an hour. Costa Rica also features a vibrant live poker scene. Learn more about relocating to Costa Rica.

If you relocate to Panama, you can take up residence in a highly industrialized country that features the famed Panama Canal and is tattooed with skyscrapers. Panama embraces the U.S. Dollar, making the transition even easier, and there are plenty of options for clubbing and gambling. Panama is also packed with beaches and offers extensive opportunities for traveling given its centralized location. Learn more about relocating to Panama.

Canada is the easiest relocation option offered on Poker Refugees. Pretty much everyone in the country speaks English fluently and Canada offers fast and reliable internet. It’s easy to renew your tourist visa since it is within easy driving distance of many U.S. cities and, as such, it offers a similar lifestyle to the United States. Poker Refugees will give you all the tools you’ll need to relocate successfully and not, a la Dan jungleman12 Cates, be turned back at the border. Learn more about relocating to Canada.

Poker Refugees can also help poker players relocate to poker-friendly nations like Argentina, Australia, Bali, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Spain, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. Learn more by visiting Poker Refugees and please contact us with any questions you may have.

  1. Wow.

  2. This looks great. I just went down to Costa Rica with another similar service and it's been 10 days and my stars account isn't open yet, and also I guess there isn't a real way to cash out at my bank for more than $1500/month. So once my stars account gets opened, I might have to do this service instead and try to move to Canada where I can actually spend the money I earn.
  3. Hopefully this will make some sort of impact on our government. Seeing American dollars leave the country is a good start for motivation.
  4. This is pretty damn awesome! Panama here I come.

  5. Awesome
  6. They even speak English in Canada!!!!
  7. This is a pretty awesome idea. Good luck with the business Kristin.

Apparently you are at the wrong bank or have your account set up wrong. Anything over 5k a month coming into your account you have to have an accountant fill out a form explaining where the funds are coming from.

Actually if you do not have what is referred to as an "orden patronal" in CR, which is a formal statement from your employer, you need a letter from an accountant. So essentially that goes for all independent contractors or people who are self-employed. When law firms or other companies set up accounts in bulk or without consulting the needs of their client, they usually do so with a low monthly transaction limit because it's easier to set up so that's probably what happened here.

    Come on down :)
  10. For all those thinking of Canada it ain't no picnic here and being on the doorstep of the US brings problems such as a bunch of conservatives trying to be like your republicans. We also have some of the highest priced, slowest connection speeds and overly controlled internet. We also enjoy high priced cell phone with the worst rates in most of the world. You can look both of those facts up easily on google.
Don't get me wrong. There are some pluses to living here, but you really have to know all the facts.
