A five-week run at the top of the PocketFives Poker Rankingsby Yuri Martinscame to an end on Wednesday, as joaomathias(pictured) claimed the #1 spot for the first time ever. The Brazilian finished third in the PokerStars Big $109 in recent days for $12,000. In January alone, he has 68 tracked online MTT scores for $146,000 combined, and we’re only 21 days in.

Interestingly, joaomathias and Yuri Martins are both Brazilian. joaomathias has a razor-thin 65-PLB Point edge over Yuri Martins in the Rankings, so we could see another changing of the guard next week. Yuri Martins’ five-week reign at the top was the longest by any PocketFiver in four months.

Hungary’s Ssick_onemoved up three spots to #7 in the world, his all-time high, thanks to a victory in the 888 PokerTurbo Mega Deep for $20,000 and 279 PLB Points. He’s had a productive January and also won the Full TiltTurbo Multi-Hundo for $15,000. You can find him playing as imyurfriendon many of the world’s largest online poker sites like Winamax and 888.

After stumbling a bit in recent weeks, Finland’s European was back in the top 10, jumping five spots to #8. He has three tracked wins already this month, including a $22,000 hit for taking down the Big $109 on January 17. The same day that the Rankings were updated on January 21, he hit $2 million in career online tournament winnings.

There are three Swedes in the top 15 of the Rankings; moving up the most of any of them was Smeckten(pictured), who landed at #14, up seven spots. He’s one day removed from a win in the PokerStars $215 NLHE Turbo for $10,000 and finished second in the PartyPoker $100,000 Guaranteed over the weekend for $17,000. Smeckten is just a couple thousand dollars shy of $3 million in online tournament winnings.

Finally this week, we wanted to single out Norway’s prebzzz, who entered his screen names on January 17 and debuted at #26 worldwide, his highest position ever. On January 13, prebzzz final tabled the PokerStars Super Tuesday and cashed for $55,000, his largest tournament score to date.
