Congrats, Brazil. For the first time in a year, a player from your country is #1 in the PocketFives Poker Rankings. This time, it’s Yuri Martins (pictured), who entered his poker site names at the beginning of October and consequently shot all the way to the top of the worldwide leaderboard.

Martins was the second-place finisher in the PokerStars WCOOP Main Event for $708,000 after a six-way chop and raked in a whopping 2,159 PLB Points. The same day, he took down the site’s Bigger $162 for another $51,000 and $27 NLHE Turbo Knockout for nearly $10,000. Not a bad day at the office.

All told, Martins is up to $4.3 million in online tournament scores and is one of 109 PocketFivers with PLB scores from the Brazilian city of Curitiba. He is the first player from Brazil to grace the top of the Rankings since pessagno dominated the leaderboard for an eight-week span that ended in October 2013.

We had two other new entrants into the top 10 this week. The first was Patrick pleno1Leonard (pictured), who moved up eight spots to #7. He has turned in a stellar last few days that included winning the PokerStars.fr Monday Night on Stars for $13,000 and taking third in both the Full Tilt Sunday Major and PokerStars Bigger $55 for a combined $38,000. Leonard was the #1 ranked player on PocketFives as recently as August.

The second new entrant into the top 10 was Fresh_Oo_D, who rose six spots to #10. He final tabled a WCOOP HORSE event last month for $29,000 and has a half-dozen online tournament wins since September 23, bringing his lifetime total to 137. He is just a few thousand dollars shy of hitting $3 million in scores.

Brazil’s keyhell rose 24 spots in the Rankings to #45 after wins in the PokerStars Big $162 and Big $55 for over $30,000 total. He just passed $1 million in career online tournament winnings and final tabled the PokerStars Sunday Million one year ago for $76,000.

Swedish online poker player C Darwin2moved up from #72 to #51 on the strength of a victory in the PokerStars $109 Cubed over the weekend for $20,000 and 325 PLB Points. He took second in the 888 Poker Mega Deep on Sunday for another $19,000 after the tournament drew 648 entrants.
