PocketFivers planning to play in the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, listen up! PocketFivesLive.com, which provides WSOP coverage of online poker players, is now accepting registrations for the $10,000 buy-in tournament. Registration is completely free and open to any member of the online poker community. It’s an easy way to let your friends and family back home know how you’re doing. We’ll even post a few pictures of you playing so you can relive the entire experience. Last year, two members of PocketFives.com reached the final table of the Main Event, which played out in November for the very first time in a trend that will continue in 2009. Scott r_a_y Montgomery and Darus BejoMas Suharto finished fifth and sixth, respectively, for a combined $5.5 million. Sign up for coverage.

A total of 11 PocketFivers banked six-figures in the Main Event. Aside from Montgomery and Suharto, Chris SLOPPYKLOD Klodnicki earned $591,000 for his 12th place finish. The PocketFiver was the runner-up in a $1,500 buy-in Seven Card Razz tournament last year for $97,000 in an impressive overall showing. Owen ocrowe Crowe took 15th place for $463,000. Like Klodnicki, Crowe also recorded a final table appearance during the 2008 WSOP. It came in a $1,500 buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament for $81,000.

Garrett Gbecks Beckman (pictured at left) earned $193,000 for his 31st place showing, one of three cashes for the Kansas native last year. Andrew foucalt Brokos also nabbed $193,000 from the 2008 WSOP Main Event. Brokos has three WSOP cashes to his name; all three are from deep runs in the $10,000 buy-in feature tournament. He finished 279th in the 2006 WSOP Main Event for $38,000 and earned $34,000 for his 361st place showing in 2007. The final PocketFiver to bust for $193,000 was Peter number1pen Neff, who finished in 36th place. Neff went onto receive a bundle of television time on cable station ESPN after taking 10th in the WSOP Europe Main Event in London for £54,300.

Jonathan therookieqq9 Plens took 42nd in last year’s WSOP Main Event for $154,000. Plens recorded his first WSOP final table during the 2009 tournament series, earning $61,000 for taking ninth in the $2,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event (#36). Plens edged out UltimateBet Star Player Adam Roothlus Levy (pictured at right) in last year’s Main Event, as Levy took 48th place for $135,000. Rounding out the contingent of six-figure paydays were Rafael rcaiaffa Caiaffa (55th place for $115,000) and Jeremy thechemist83 Gaubert (58th for $115,000). In total, the 66 PocketFivers who raised their hand for coverage on PocketFivesLive.com last year earned nearly $10 million from the Main Event, or 15% of the total prize pool. Not too shabby!
