On Wednesday morning, one of my non-poker playing friends texted me to say, “Your boy Dan Bilzerian (pictured) was arrested at LAX yesterday and is being held without bail. My wife thinks he’s hot.” Yes, this is what the mainstream world knows about poker pro Dan Bilzerian, the industry’s bad boy and resident attention-seeker.

According to LA Weekly,
Bilzerian was picked up at LAXon Tuesday night on an out-of-state warrant. He was just a couple of days removed from allegedly kicking model Vanessa Castano in the face at a Miami night club. In South Florida, video from TMZ captured Bilzerian allegedly in the act.

TMZ said of the melee, “Bilzerian claims he kicked her because he was trying to help another woman on stage and Castano was blocking him… When cops arrived at the club, Bilzerian had already left and Castano declined to file a report. But, she had a change of heart and filled out the paperwork Sunday night.”

An update posted by LA Weekly at 12:25am Pacific Time on Wednesday said that Bilzerian was being held without bail several thousand miles away on the Left Coast in California: “The information shows that the Las Vegas resident was arrested at 8:30pm Tuesday by LAX police. He was booked at 10:15pm Tuesday at the LAPD’s Pacific Division, according to the sheriff’s department. He was assigned to a cell at 11:51pm Tuesday, according to the info. Bilzerian’s bail amount is listed, literally, as ‘no bail.’ No court date is listed, either.”

On Wednesday, TMZ published an article saying that Bilzerian’s arrest had to do with a warrant issued by Nevada officials: “We’ve learned an arrest warrant was issued in Clark County, Nevada. Bilerzian has been charged with violating a law making it a crime to possess an explosive or incendiary device with the intent to manufacture it. According to the criminal complaint obtained by TMZ, Bilzerian had ammonium and aluminum powder, along with ammonium nitrate mix, and when mixed it acts like pure TNT.”

If convicted, Bilzerian would face between one and six years in jail, according to TMZ. It’s not clear what the playboy was going to do with the explosive.

In July, Bilzerian told Howard Stern that he had made $50 million playing poker in the previous 12 months.
