The final PokerStars WCOOP schedule is out and includes a different look than previous years.

After making countless tweaks to its 2016 World Championship of Online Poker event lineup, PokerStars has released the fifth and final iteration of the series schedule. This year, WCOOP features 82 events, a vast array of games and formats, a Mini-WCOOP companion series and a $1.5 million guaranteed Main Event. Players can also expect several changes, including the discontinuation of WCOOP bracelets and the elimination of Second Chance tournaments.

The much-anticipated series kicks off on Sunday, September 4, and culminates with the $5,000 buy-in Main Event on September 25. Players who don’t have the bankroll to compete in the main WCOOP tournaments will have the chance to play in PokerStars’ first-ever Mini-WCOOP, a low-stakes series pegged to the regular WCOOP schedule. Mini-COOP events will feature buy-ins of just 1/100 of their counterparts.

On the other side of the scale, PokerStars will be running a $10,300 No Limit Hold’em High Roller event on the 10th, and a massive $102,000 Super High Roller event the next day. The six-figure buy-in tournament boasts the largest entry fee in online poker history.

WCOOP 2016 features a wide selection of formats, like Three Max, Six Max and Eight Max Progressive Knockouts, 1R1A’s, Re-Entries and Heads-Up tournaments. Players who enjoy less common game variants will have their pick of Five Card Draw, Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo, Eight Game Mix, Badugi, Razz and HORSE events, among others.

New to the schedule this year, PokerStars has added a Marathon Event, which will provide super deep stacks and be played out over a period of four or five days. The site is still working to perfect the structure of the event, in which patience will no doubt be key.

Also new in 2016 is the $215 No Limit Hold‘em Deep Payouts event, to be played out on the 11th. Due to its popularity at SCOOP earlier this year, organizers decided to offer the format for one tournament only at WCOOP. The event will give players who have always wanted to cash in a major championship event their best shot at doing so. A minimum of 20% of the field will cash in this event.

A few events have been added back this year after an absence from last year’s festivities. On September 6, the $320 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo event makes its return, with the $320 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo event making a comeback two days later.

Apart from the addition of the Mini-WCOOP, PokerStars has made two major changes to the series this go round. After speaking with players, the site made the decision not to give out WCOOP bracelets this year to winners.

“We have found that although some players have been highly appreciative and valued the bracelets as the prestigious trophies we intended them to be from the start, the vast majority of players have made it clear that going after a bracelet is not something which motivates them to play the series,” said PokerStars official Bryan Slick. “Given the fact that the spending on the bracelets represents a significant cost which is devoted to a very small percentage of the WCOOP population each year, the decision to discontinue them was clearer than it might have seemed initially.”

Due to the fact that WCOOP has expanded over the years, in terms of offering more late registrations and more events in total, the site has chosen not to run any Second Chance tournaments in 2016.

“Removing the Second Chance tournaments has been something that we’ve been considering for a few years, and with the expansion to 82 Events, it’s a decision that we’ve finally taken,” added Slick.

Players will also have a chance to win their share of $70,000 in cash prizes, Turbo Championship of Online Poker Main Event tickets, and an Ultimate Bahamas Experience package for placing on the top of the WCOOP Leaderboard.

The Bahamian poker holiday prize will go to the Ultimate WCOOP Leaderboard Champion and includes a $5,000 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event entry in Nassau, business class tickets for two, a luxury suite at the Atlantis resort, limo pick up, a room credit and more.
