I know it’s been a while since I’ve written a blog, so I wanted to make sure it would be on something very useful. I know most people have heard of the site. For those of you who haven’t, it’s a site run by Mindwise with instruction by Bax and Sheets. Now most people think that the instruction is for beginning and intermediate players. While it is great for them, it is also very good for advanced players as well. Being a top 25 player some people might wonder why I’m a subscriber. The greatest asset that Bax and Sheets have is an ability to communicate advanced poker theory. Unlike some forms of poker training, which are nothing more than the person telling you how good they are, these guys delve deep into strategy that gives options. They are very good at taking a concept and approaching it from the tight and loose players view and then telling you where they fall. They explain, in great detail, how they derive at the decisions that they make. Poker is about decision making and they do a fantastic job of communicating what the options are in given hands.

Another thing that is extremely valuable is their honesty. They hold nothing back. They are sharing with you the totality of their knowledge of the game. They genuinely care about making you a better player. They are NOT in this for the money. If that was the case, they would charge a lot more than the paltry sum that they do. They try to take every concept and give you everything that they know about it.

Lastly, they cause the good player to re examine his game. They have made me look at why I play the way that I do and helped me to see where my holes are. Pride is the biggest enemy of a good player. When you get to a certain point there is a huge danger of thinking you are above learning. I’m glad that I didn’t let my pride keep me from taking advantage of what they have to offer. There isn’t a single player on the P5s rankings that couldn’t learn something from Bax and Sheets. I encourage every player out there to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge that these guys possess while they are still crazy enough to offer it so cheaply.
