2016 WSOP Dates Announced, Colossus to Guarantee $1 Million to First

On Friday, the dates for the 2016 World Series of Poker were announced. The annual festival in Las Vegas will run from May 31 to July 18 at the Rio. It's the 47th running of the series and its first open event will be the second edition of the Colossus, which begins June 2.

Tournament Review for January 11, 2016

Shares of Amaya Gaming Drop 28% on Tuesday

It has been a rough week for investors of Amaya Gaming, the parent company of PokerStars and Full Tilt. On Tuesday, shares of Amaya, which are traded in Toronto under the symbol AYA, tanked 28% after the company cut its revenue and earnings estimates. On Wednesday at the time of writing, shares continued to slide, dropping another 4% to CAD $20.25. Talk about a bad beat.

Last weekend, jaggalo1231, from the Czech Republic, finished fourth in the PokerStars Sunday Million and raked in $65,000. That Unexpected Time $91,000 Fell in Your Lap

Last month, London's Nayeem Syed (pictured), known on PocketFives as dancingbudha, took third in the PokerStars Sunday Million and earned $91,000, his largest online poker cash to date. There were 5,528 entrants that day and he was the highest-finishing member of the PocketFives community. PocketFives Rankings: Swedes Claim 4 of the Top 6 Spots

Sweden's C Darwin2 continues to climb the PocketFives Online Poker Rankings. This week, he moved up from #9 to #5, three spots shy of his highest ranking ever. Much of his gain came after winning the PokerStars Hotter $162 over the weekend, a score that netted him over 300 PLB Points, the metric used to determine the Rankings.

IgorK Wins Second Triple Crown in Two Months

For the second time in two months, Simon Ronnow Pedersen (pictured), known on PocketFives as IgorK, has won a PocketFives Triple Crown. This time around, his Triple Crown quest began on December 8 with a win in the William Hill €25,000 Grand Tuesday for $6,600 and 170 PLB Points. That tournament drew 154 entrants and Pedersen was one of three members of our community to cash in it.
