New Jersey Weekend Tournament Review for December 29, 2014

The last weekend of 2014 in New Jersey saw PartyPoker/Borgata Poker host a $100,000 Guarantee Sunday Major, which attracted a total of 473 players. After all was said and done, the winner of the tournament was TooDue4U, who took home a cool $15,486 after a seven-way-chop.

This weekend in New Jersey online poker, PartyPoker/Borgata Poker ran ten tournaments, which included the $50,000 Guarantee Sunday Major. Rodney Koodray (Vetstadium on PocketFives) finished third in the site's $10,000 Guarantee on Sunday for $1,438. PokerStars, Ultimate Poker Cut Sponsored Pros

August has not been a good month for sponsored poker pros. In recent weeks, three Latin American grinders have been confirmed cuts from Team PokerStars, while four more have seemingly disappeared from the US online site Ultimate Poker's roster.

On the final weekend of July, Brazil's capotinha (pictured) took down the PokerStars Sunday $100 Rebuy outright for $49,000. There were about 900 entrants in the tournament, which offered up a prize pool of $265,000. It was his largest online tournament cash by a factor of three and has helped drive his career total to just south of $1 million.

PocketFives Rankings Update: European Up 20 Spots to #4

It's Wednesday, which means we have recalculated the PocketFives Online Poker Rankings. Finland's European chopped the PokerStars Sunday Million over the weekend for $185,000. Morgan Stanley: 20 US States Will Regulate Online Gambling By 2020

According to a report from Morgan Stanley, 20 US states will have regulated internet gambling by 2020. Currently, three states are online – Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware – with others like Pennsylvania and California currently examining the issue.

Ultimate Gaming Leaves New Jersey

On Friday, following word that its land-based partner casino, Trump Taj Mahal, is facing bankruptcy, Ultimate Gaming announced that it plans to withdraw from the regulated New Jersey marketplace. In doing so, Ultimate terminated its agreement with Trump due to "multiple breaches by Trump Taj Mahal Associates," according to a press release.

George Danzer Wins 2014 WSOP Player of the Year

Heads-Up with Sunday Warm-Up Winner Big Huni

Last weekend, Costa Rica's Chris Big Huni Hunichen (pictured) came away with the win in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up following a heads-up chop with Phemo. His reward was $89,000 and he became the ninth PocketFiver ever to pass $7 million in online tournament scores for his career.

New Jersey Has Explored Compacts with Nevada, UK; No Deal Imminent

According to Forbes, Canadian officials raided the offices of Amaya Gaming in Montreal on Wednesday. According to the company, which purchased PokerStars and Full Tilt in June for $4.9 billion, the investigation centers on "trading activities in Amaya securities surrounding the Corporation's acquisition of [PokerStars and Full Tilt] in 2014."

PocketFives Rankings Update: lena900 Jumps to #9 Worldwide

There wasn't a lot of movement this week in the top 10 worldwide of the PocketFives Online Poker Rankings, but Sweden's lena900 moved up from #18 to #9 and was the lone new face in the top 10.
