WSOP Recommending Second Form of ID for Non-US Players

It took all of 138 characters for World Series of Poker officials to rock the minds of poker players on Thursday: "Attn non-US WSOP players: You'll want a 2nd form of ID besides passport to reg for events. Need ID proving your residency/current address." The message morphed into "a second ID is required or you can't play," which is certainly not the case.

New Jersey Weekend Tournament Review for June 16, 2014

This weekend in New Jersey online poker, PartyPoker/Borgata Poker ran its $50,000 Guarantee Sunday Major, which saw a $4,490 overlay. The winner was munssoned, who took the top prize of $10,000. Also running this weekend on Party/Borgata was a $500 buy-in High Roller Event, which had a $20,000 guarantee. RugerInMyBoot came out victorious in that tournament, banking $8,250 after a four-way-chop.

$15 Million in US Full Tilt Poker Refunds Scheduled for Mid-June

According to an update posted on the official claims website for US Full Tilt Poker players, another round of refunds is scheduled for mid-June. This time, Garden City Group, the appointed Claims Administrator in the case, will refund $15 million over 3,500 payments, or an average of $4,300 per claim.

Millionaire Maker Attracts Second Largest WSOP Field Ever

The extravaganza known as the World Series of Poker Millionaire Maker kicked off on Saturday with two flights, one at 11:00am local time and one at 5:00pm. The recent PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker awarded $81 million to players. One of the big winners was Denmark's Rasmus Agerskov (pictured), who is known as RasA on PocketFives. Report: $1 Billion-Plus in Funding for Amaya's Purchase of PokerStars

According to Bloomberg, the price tag for Amaya Gaming's rumored purchase of PokerStars' parent company could be more than $1 billion. PocketFives Rankings Update: lena900 Jumps to #9 Worldwide

There wasn't a lot of movement this week in the top 10 worldwide of the PocketFives Online Poker Rankings, but Sweden's lena900 moved up from #18 to #9 and was the lone new face in the top 10. PPA Singles Out "Poker Jokers"

It's almost election time in the United States, which means one-third of the Senate and the entire House of Representatives will be up for grabs. Voters will head to the polls on the first Tuesday in November and, when they do, the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) wants to remind them who has sided with Sheldon Adelson and his crusade to outlaw online poker in the US.

In Nevada, kicked off its weekend with seven major events including the Weekend Warm-Up $5,000 Guarantee and the Re-Entry R&A $3,000 Guarantee on Saturday. On Sunday, it ran the Sunday Freezeout and Sunday $15,000 Guarantee. had 461 runners vying for the 61 available prizes totaling $54,000.

Nevada Weekday Tournament Review for July 18, 2014

In Nevada this week, ran all four $3,000 events as scheduled. All of the events exceeded the guarantees. This week, the Last Chance series was also included in the weekday results. That series concluded on July 17. Overall, there were 683 runners with a total prize pool of $84,275 and 119 spots being paid.

Tournament Review for August 11, 2014

PocketFiver krakts of Israel picked up his largest career online poker tournament cash over the weekend thanks to a 2nd place effort in the PokerStars Sunday Million weekly flagship event for $179,510 (two-way deal). The 2014 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) wrapped up over the weekend with the $10,000+300 NLHE Main Event. Phillip Grindation Mcallister of the United Kingdom wound up in 5th place in the tournament for $350,838 while Canada's NeverScaredB (pictured) finished 6th for $279,225.

Dominik Nitsche (bounatirouIMO) Wins WSOP National Championship

The World Series of Poker National Championship crowned its first ever non-US winner on Saturday, Dominik Nitsche (pictured), who is known as bounatirouIMO here on PocketFives. All Signs Point to Amaya-PokerStars Announcement

On Friday, we'd expect to hear news that Canadian-based Amaya Gaming will be purchasing the parent company of PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, the Isle of Man-based Rational Group.
