Two Guys from Shawinigan Final Table the Sunday Million the Same Month

Late last month, Sammy Lafleur (pictured), known on PocketFives as illraiseyou8, made the final table of the PokerStars Sunday Million and earned $40,000. There were almost 6,400 entrants and Lafleur, part of the Quebec poker community, was one of 990 to make the money. It was the second time a person from his hometown final tabled the Sunday Million in a month.

ale6ka Rakes $40,000 in Bounties in SCOOP Variable Levels Win

The final weekend of SCOOP began with Belarus PocketFiver ale6ka coming away with the win in a $2,100 No Limit Hold'em Six-Max Variable Level Progressive Super Knockout (say that ten times fast) for $111,000 following a heads-up deal. As if the agreed-upon prize money weren't enough, ale6ka also banked $40,000 in bounties for over $150,000 total.

Nevada Weekend Tournament Review for May 25, 2015

This weekend in Nevada, 10 PocketFives members made it to 14 final tables, cashing for $12,516 total. jmd123 garnered the most cash by coming in second in the Sunday $15K for 4,144. Stimey661 cashed in three events, taking home over $1,505 total.

No Laughing Matter: allinforthelolz Talks 888 Mega Deep Win

The 888 Poker Mega Deep brought out a field of 748 entrants earlier this month and Carl Johns (pictured), who is known on PocketFives as allinforthelolz, won it outright for $35,000. No, it's not a joke. Instead, it was Johns' third largest online MTT score to date. He won the Super XL version of the tournament last December for $39,000.

Nevada Weekend Tournament Review for June 1, 2015

This weekend in Nevada, eight PocketFives members made it to 14 final tables and cashed for $15,873 total. Butters took down the Sunday $15K and cashed in 6th in the $3K Nightly for a total payout of $7,317. Josh Reynolds (pictured) made his presence known with three cashes totaling $1,423.

Brian Hastings Becomes First Multi-Bracelet Winner of 2015 WSOP

WSOP Poker Player's Championship Attracts 77 Entrants

There were 77 entrants in this year's Poker Player's Championship at the World Series of Poker, down 25% from last year's tally of 102 as it currently stands. After five 100-minute levels of play, Scott Seiver (pictured) bagged up the Day 1 chip lead with 350,000 and leads a pack of 73 survivors.

Bryan Micon Returning to Las Vegas to Face Gambling Charges

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, former SealsWithClubs head Bryan Micon (pictured) is returning to the US to face gambling charges. An arrest warrant for Micon was issued on April 28 and he reportedly had fled to the island of Antigua.

WSOP Attendance Up 25% in 2015 to 103,512

Due in part to the Colossus, a $565 buy-in tournament that fetched a field of 22,374 entrants, attendance at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas was up 25% to 103,512 this year. That number represents a new all-time high for the annual tournament series.

PokerStars 2015 WCOOP Will Guarantee $45 Million

The World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) returns to PokerStars September 6 to 27 for its 14th edition. This year's online poker festival promises to be the biggest in WCOOP history with 70 events and $45 million in guaranteed prizes. Game On: GVC Bids $1.6 Billion for bwin.party

Last week, we reported that shareholders of bwin.party recommended that the company's Board of Directors approve a $1.4 billion acquisition by 888 Holdings, the parent company of 888 Poker. However, not refusing to lay down and die, GVC, which had been in a bidding war with 888, has upped the ante, reportedly bidding $1.6 billion for bwin.party.

It was another big Sunday online this past weekend, propelled by the Full Tilt Online Poker Series. Tournament Review for April 20, 2015

The biggest cash by any PocketFiver over the weekend came in the PokerStars Sunday 500, when in the wee hours of the morning it was Canada's Lockhurt beating out a 786 player field to win $70,740. At one point, it appeared Lockhurt was going to have to settle for second place after a hand left him with about four big blinds heads-up before making a comeback to win the tournament.
