Through the first 46 events of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, the total prize pool stands at a three-year high at $85.7 million, while the total number of entrants is at a three-year low of 48,620.

PocketFives Rankings Update: p0cket00 New #1

Since last October, no one has been able to stay at the top of the PocketFives Online Poker Rankings for longer than four weeks. Sure enough, this week was no exception, as Canada's p0cket00 regained the top spot worldwide, surpassing Sweden's r4ndomr4gs (pictured), who was ranked #1 for a week.

"Just Cooked a WSOP Main Event Breakfast: 6 Eggs and 8 Pieces of Bacon"

On Friday, PocketFives' co-founder Cal Spears was playing cash games in the mammoth Pavilion Room at the Rio in Las Vegas, one day before the start of the World Series of Poker Main Event. Out of the hundreds of tables set up in the room on the US Independence Day, only a few were in use. Finding Cal when this author woke up was easy; he was the only one there.

In Nevada this week, ran all four $3,000 events as scheduled. Friday was the start of the "Last Chance" series, which has $100,000 in guarantees spread over eight days. All of the events exceeded the guarantees. There were 379 runners, with a total prize pool of $30,675 and 64 spots being paid.

Tournament Review for July 28, 2014

Nevada Hits $1 Million in Online Poker Revenue for the First Time

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the regulated Nevada online poker sites hit $1 million in combined revenue in June, the first time that's happened since the market launched last year. The number was $1.037 million in a month, to be exact.

Nevada Weekend Tournament Review for October 6, 2014

This weekend in Nevada, eleven PocketFives members made it to the final tables but only one, LuckSackGMZ took down a tournament. Derek Gomez (pictured, ranked #10 in Nevada) won the Ultimate Poker Sunday $10K event, winning $2,900. Overall, PocketFives members took home over $9K by cashing in thirteen events.

It's Wednesday, which means the PocketFives Online Poker Rankings were recalculated. The Latest Winner of the PocketFives Open Was... A Lady

Late last month, about 100 players turned out for the latest running of the PocketFives Open, our main community-building event. This weekend in New Jersey, PartyPoker/Borgata Poker ran its $10,000 Guarantee as well as the $50,000 Guarantee Sunday Major. Portuguese poker tournament specialist Artur rnb333 Silva had his largest online cash to date as a result of his runner-up performance in the PokerStars Sunday Million for $150,153. Silva took home the biggest payday in the event thanks to his negotiations in a three-way final table deal. Fellow member glammc pocketed $39,450 for his 6th place effort in that event.

The reign of Griffin Flush_Entity Benger at the top of the PocketFives Rankings lasted one week, as Lukas lukethafluke Berglund (pictured) made it to #1 on Wednesday. 2014 WSOP Starts Tuesday: "Such an Amazing Time of the Year"

The 2014 World Series of Poker is here! The 65-event schedule kicks off on Tuesday with two tournaments, the annual $500 Casino Employees event at Noon local time and a special $25,000 Mixed-Max No Limit Hold'em event that begins four hours later. Twitter was ablaze with players making their way to the Rio in Las Vegas, the host venue of the WSOP for the tenth straight year.
