RANKINGS: Fabrizio Gonzalez on Top, Conor Beresford Back in Top 10
Even the best online poker players in the world took some time this past week to enjoy the holiday season and spend some time with family and friends rather than grinding away. That lead to a week with no changes at all in the top ten of the PocketFives Rankings with Fabrizio ‘SixthSenSe19’ Gonzalez sitting on top for the 12th straight week.
Gonzalez cashed only seven times with none of them being big enough to earn him any additional PLB points. That allowed Alex ‘alexd2’ Dimitrov to close the gap to just 265.21 points. Two of the Bulgarian’s 43 cashes last week were big enough to add to his PLB total.
On December 26 he beat out 514 players to win the PokerStars $109 Six Max Hyper Turbo for $9,459 and 231.22 points. he followed that up with a fifth place finish in the PokerStars Hot $215 for $5,641/129.34. Dimitrov has been #2 for nine consecutive weeks.
Former #1-ranked ‘C Darwin2‘ sits third and also finds himself within striking distance of Gonzalez. The Swedish pro took down the partypoker Six Max Turbo High Roller on December 22 for $8,400/144.91. He’s now just 518.01 points behind Gonzalez and 265.21 points behind Dimitrov.
The rest of the top eight remained unchanged with Sweden’s ‘lena900‘ and Brazil’s Joao Mathias ‘joaomathias’ Baumgarten rounding out the top five.
Patrick ‘pleno1’ Leonard moved up from #10 to #9 thanks to three final table finishes. The first came on December 22 when he finished runner-up to Chris ‘imdanuts’ Oliver in the $1,050 Thursday Thrill for $31,026 and 319.49 points. On Christmas Day he finished runner-up in the PokerStars Sunday Supersonic for $18,077/268.19 and then fifth in the 888 poker $50,000 WHALE for $4,475/101.34.
The biggest mover though was former #1Conor ‘1_conor_b_1’ Beresford. The British pro jumped from #16 to #10 after he won the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for $43,217 and 527.07 points – his highest points score ever.
