As we head toward the new year, the PocketFives.com Online Tournament Player Rankings are finally changing their original course a bit, and the evolution of the system is becoming more clear to those who follow it closely. Starting today, I'm going to be writing a weekly column that highlights some of the most recent changes. Tmay420 is still the number 1 player, but for the first time since the inception of the new ranking system, there's a new number 1 in the PLB. Annette_15 now has the top PLB total for the last 3 months, having pulled ahead of Tmay by 127 points. Some of her recent cashes include a 1st, a 2nd, and two 4th place finishes in the $100 rebuys on Stars, as well as two 3rd place finishes in the Full Tilt $150. Annette is now the 4th ranked player on the site.
BeL0WaB0Ve climbed back up to the 2nd spot this week, which he's earned by having the 4th best PLB total and the 2nd best Pro Poll rating. BeL0W's pro poll average improved by almost a full point in the past week, allowing him to edge out Imper1um for the 2nd spot in the poll. His climb in the poll may be due to the huge week he had last week, including a 2nd place in the Stars $150, 5th in the UB $250k Gtd., 1st and 2nd in Stars $100 rebuys, and 1st in a Full Tilt $150.
Much of the bottom half of the top 10 was stagnant, though it is notable that mattg1983 made it onto the front page. He's been one of the fastest rising players since the new system was invoked, due to his 9th ranked PLB score over the last 3 months.
Three new players rose into the top 20 this week as well. Stlouis6 has continued his strong performance of late, and he moved all the way up to the 17th spot in the rankings. BKiCe has been constantly moving towards the top, resting at the 18th spot this week. He's been quietly making final tables all over the place, and his PLB score is now 14th best among all P5ers. The other new addition to the top 20 is atimos, who recently won the Sunday Million, as well as the November PocketFives Leaderboard, which will allow him the opportunity to play the December winner in a heads up match for $1k.
Some other notable risers in the top 50 include Riverloser, who moved up 11 spots to number 47, dipthrong, who nearly won the November PLB and this month moved up 8 spots to number 38, Huey (Brett Favre on Stars), who moved up 11 spots to numbetr 40, gator93, who moved up 8 spots to number 41, and Martine23, who moved up all of 13 spots to number 47.
One new addition to the rankings this week was JohnnyGstaks, ranked 78th. He has been ranked in the past, but was not in the previous edition. Mkind16, who recently won the triple crown, is a first time ranked player this week, now ranked 80th. Pbdrunks is a familiar name to many who follow online poker, and he debuted this week at number 85.
Mr_BigCheese and Phwap, who each recently had a major final table on Stars, are now ranked 86th and 87th, and gaffel made it in at the 89th spot. GBecks is newly ranked as number 95 this week, and gobboboy made it back into the top 100 as well, taking the 96th spot. Rounding out the rankings this week was RollinFish, who's also new to the list.
