The biggest change we've made since implementing the automated rankings system is now in effect. No longer do results only count from the last 3 months for our sliding PLB, which is one of three equal components in the rankings. Now results count for approximately six months, and by July, we will have an entire year's worth of data that will count for the rankings. The one stipulation is that a tournament result loses a quarter of its original value after every three months that passes since the tournament. One other important note, before I get into which players moved up the most this week, is that the PokerStars results are currently lagged by more than a week. This will all be caught up before the next update.
New to the top ten this week are apestyles and P0KERPR033. Apestyles has been a steady producer for many months, and his move up shows a lot about how the new changes to the rankings place a somewhat lesser importance on high volume and a greater importance on quality of results. P0KERPR033 has been absolutely crushing since the last week of 2006, and this week, a win in the Full Tilt $1000 buy in tournament was added on to his PLB total, which helped propell him to the 10th spot in the player rankings.
Some others in the top 30 who made significant upward strides this week were mig.com, who moved up 6 spots to number 22, scarface_79 (up 8 spots to 23), shaniac (up 5 spots to 24), Ari (up 28 spots to 25), stlouis6 (up 8 spots to 27), and CrazyMarco (up 15 spots to number 30). Many of these players' rankings benefitted from the inclusion of a longer period of results.
Bigdogpckt5s (up 7 spots to 31), PokerJoe9 (up 145 spots to 37), #1PEN (up 11 spots to 38), and MrSmokey1 (up 6 spots to 48) also all benefitted from the changes, but the biggest mover of all was ocrowe, who moved up an amazing 44 spots to number 43, after the reinclusion of his win in the Sunday Million, among other results. A couple players in the top 50 who moved up due to more recent wins included Andy McLEOD, who's been one of the very top players over the last month or so, and RandALLin, who had an incredible week on UB, winning the $30 rebuy twice and the $35k Guaranteed, three wins that totaled about $21k in cashes. Lacky also moved up several spots to number 50 after making 2 final tables on UB and another on Full Tilt in the last week.
Players in the lower half of the top 100 who made big moves this week included Beatiful Man, who moved up 21 spots to number 51, muchaka (up 12 spots to 53), gobboboy (up 16 spots to 66), Davidp18 (up 17 spots to 69), steely (up 28 spots to 71), rcrane082985 (up 19 spots to 77), and Dyzalot (up 16 spots to 79).
M8kingmoves and GB2005 reentered the rankings all the way up at numbers 60 and 64 respectively. Badpab2, LUVEMnLEAVUM, gbmantis, Wachovia, timex, BrooDogg, LUHMAN, and x2then were others who had similar re-entries, after previously losing their rankings due to results dropping off the 3 month radar.
One final newcomer to the rankings this week was dont77, who entered the rankings at number 80 after recently winning the Bodog $100k Guaranteed. He also had a win for more than $35k in the Stars $150 in December, and has an entire array of impressive scores to go along with those, including a second place several months back in the Sunday Million on Stars.
Keep an eye on this update next week for all the latest on the PocketFives.com Tournament Player Rankings!
