Rankings Update: P0KERPR033 is New #2[ return to main articles page ]
This week's P5's Rankings update features many significant movements in the Top 100, led by new blood in the #2 and #3 rankings. Jim "P0KERPR033" Campbell (pictured) has moved up to the #2 spot this week after putting up very impressive results in the first part of 2008. He took down the PokerStars Sunday $200 Rebuy for $55k in January, then went on to win a $100 freezeout on PokerStars and the Full Tilt Poker Nightly $65k for a combined $46,000. Russell "rdcrsn" Carson has inched one step closer to the overall top spot, and finds himself ranked at #3 worldwide. His amazing online tournament run earlier this year included wins in the PokerRoom Grand Tournament XXI and the PokerStars Sunday $200 Rebuy, plus a 3rd place finish in the Full Tilt $1 Million Guaranteed. Those three scores totaled nearly $270,000... all earned over a period of one week. The reigning top-ranked online tournament player from the United Kingdom, "moorman1," has moved up one spot to #7 following his outright victory in the Full Tilt $1k Monday on April 14th for $82,750.
Garrett "GBecks" Beckman is currently on the brink of entering the Top 10, ending this week in the #11 spot following his victory in the Full Tilt $65k Guaranteed in late March for over $23k and his final table of the PokerStars $150k Guaranteed for $10k on April 14th. "Busto_soon", The Netherlands' top online tournament player, is now ranked #12 worldwide; enjoying a nice rankings boost from his run in March, where he had three cashes of $19k or more, including a 2nd place finish in the Stars Sunday Warm-Up for $51k. Greg "DuckU" Hobson made online poker headlines in 2007 when he won back-to-back Sunday majors on Full Tilt. He's continued to prove himself as one of today's top players, with outright victories in the Full Tilt $1k Monday for $82k, and the UltimateBet Online Championship for $55,700. Last month, Greg final tabled the $1k Monday again, earning almost $42k for 3rd place. "DuckU" moves up 9 spots this week to #14. Rounding out the Top 15 is Joshua "pbdrunks" Van Duyn, who has won the PokerStars $1k Super Tuesday and the Full Tilt $55k Guaranteed in the past 60 days for a combined $93k. He also chopped a $1k live tournament at the Wynn Poker Room during that span.
Recent PocketFives.com Podcast guest "IWEARGOGGLES" is up 4 spots to #17 this week, followed by "CrazyMarco" and "USCphildo," who are now ranked #19 and #22 respectively. Former #1 Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy has increased his tournament volume lately - with predictable results. "JohnnyBax" is up 7 to #27 this week after his final table appearance in the Full Tilt $750k Guaranteed in March and his victory in the PokerStars $100 Rebuy earlier this month. Adam "Roothlus" Levy is now ranked #29, while "THAY3R" moves up 5 spots to #30, and "basebaldy" ends the week at #33.
Texas' new #1 "the_Hunt_D" have moved up all the way to #34 after entering the rankings less than two months ago. Thomas "ChuckSty" Rau is up 6 to #35 and Shane "Anbessa" Pacheco moves up 6 to #37. "JayPez" ends the week at #39, while Mark "TheOmaholic" Roland continues to put up solid results in 2008, and is up 7 to #43.
PocketFives.com Contributing Writer Tony "Bond18" Dunst moves up 13 spots this week to #47 upon taking down the Full Tilt $65k Guaranteed and the PokerStars $20k Guaranteed over the last 60 days. He's also taken over the #1 spot in the P5's Sortable Rankings for the country of Australia. "Scarface_79" also moved up 13 spots this week, ending up at #47 after he won the PokerStars $100 Rebuy on March 30th for $44,650. "Improved" remains one of Costa Rica's top players, and took home $135,000 on March 30th after winning the Full Tilt $750k Guaranteed. "CapTinBisKuiT" won that same tournament on Full Tilt a week earlier for $134k, and is up 13 to #56

"Tomgus456" is now ranked #85 and could continue to rise in upcoming weeks after his win in the PokerStars Sunday Million for $220k in February. "Exitonly" is new to the rankings this week at #89, and "OnlyPlayRagz" enters at #94.
