One of the fixtures of the tournament poker circuit, Ralph “Rep” Porter has traveled the United States in pursuit of tournament poker glory. He has definitely found it in 2013 at the World Series of Poker Main Event, where Porter came to the Day 7 action with one of the shorter stacks at 2.675 million.

Porter’s tournament poker career dates back to 2003 when he made the final table at the now-defunct United States Poker Championships’ $1000 No Limit Hold’em event, good for a $9,720 score. It was only upwards from there, as Porter, from Woodinville, Washington, continued to pursue tournament success in Las Vegas, Connecticut, and California. He earned eight cashes at the WSOP from 2005 to 2008 before putting his name into poker’s history books.

In 2008, Porter battled his way to the final table of a $1,500 Short-Handed No Limit Hold’em tournament at the WSOP, eventually defeating Nathan Templeton to take down his first WSOP bracelet. Six more cashes at the WSOP followed before he captured his second bracelet in 2011 in a $2,500 Seven Card Razz tournament. In 2013 alone at the WSOP, Porter has two cashes that include a fourth place finish in a $1,500 HORSE tournament won by Tom Schneider.

Although he has had success on the WSOP stage, the 2013 Main Event marks only the second time that Porter has been able to cash in that particular event (in 2007, Porter made it to a 39th place finish).
