American poker player Robert Park found himself in a position that all poker players envy. At the end of Day 5 of the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event, Park had almost 4.3 million in chips, which was good enough for 12th place with 79 players remaining after finishing Day 4 in the middle of the pack with slightly less than 800,000. He busted from the 2014 Main Event in 33rd place for $230,000.

This poker player from Atlanta, Georgia had almost $40,000 in live poker tournament cashes heading into the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event. Park’s first recorded live poker tournament cash was on January 12, 2006 when he finished in 17th place for $2,735 in the $2,070 Gold Strike World Poker Open in Tunica.

A few years later, Park won a bit over $4,000 on January 7, 2011 in the $550 buy-in Southern Poker Championship after finishing in eighth place in that event.

In 2013, Park had his first recorded World Series of Poker cash, when he finished in 240th place in a $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event for approximately $2,000.

Park recorded his biggest live tournament cash prior to the 2014 Main Event in a World Series of Poker Circuit Stop at Harrah’s Cherokee in April 2014. Park finished in eighth place in that $1,675 buy-in tournament, adding about $24,000 to his bankroll.

Park also had a cash in the inaugural World Series of Poker Monster Stack event in late June 2014, when he finished in 541st place out of 7,862 entries for $4,033.

Park still has a long way to go if he wants to be on the top of the Georgia leaderboards thanks to the success of fellow Atlanta poker player Josh Arieh. According to the Global Poker Index, Arieh was ranked #1 in Georgia at the time of the 2014 WSOP Main Event with a shade under $6.8 million in live tournament cashes.
