The Scoop on the 2012 PokerStars SCOOP Schedule[ return to main articles page ]

On Thursday, registration opened for the 2012 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker, or SCOOP. The 40-event series once again features low-, medium-, and high-stakes versions and begins on May 6th, which is just a few short weeks away. This time around, $30 million is up for grabs and registration is already open in the PokerStars lobby. Moreover, satellites are already running to the 2012 SCOOP.

The three PokerStars SCOOP Main Events will guarantee $5 million by themselves and take place on May 20th. The Low Main Event will sport a $109 buy-in and shell out at least $1 million, while the Medium Main Event runs $1,050 and will give away at least $1.5 million. Finally, the High-Stakes SCOOP Main Event will have a $10,300 price tag, a $2.5 million guaranteed prize pool, and a first place prize of at least $500,000.

Last year, over $43 million was given away as part of the SCOOP schedule and players from 156 countries turned out. All-time, PokerStars has dished out nearly $150 million in prize money as part of its annual SCOOP series. Here's a look at this year's event slate. All times are Eastern:

    Hate that day1 takes more than 10 hours (not including brakes)! Would have loved to see 3-day events where you play like 6-8 hours a day.....

    Its much better than previous years where you are playing for 16 hours + in a tournament. 3 day events online would drag too long. The 2 day structure seems reasonable and is a good compromise compared to previous years.

    I dont like schedule personally as i cant play any events!! too long at night 3 days event would be cool def agree but w/e thats how it is I guess..canadian must be happy.just sad they still dont put any early events like TCOOP at 6am ET wich attract big amount of players and is more euro friendly, they had it for WCOOP as well dont get why they took them off very disapointed. from a series I could play like 20 events gonna end up playing 2 maybe .... and those turbos always so late also grrrr

    Almost forgot that scoop has a lot of gimmicks in there which i cant even play... Will play less than half of the events. Pretty nice schedule for mixed players, just sucks not to be a tourney player wacky :D

    Will either suck really hard with backing players or will be very lucrative as well. I'm OK "Knishing" the cash games, might donate in an event or three in this anyway.
