The ninth Full Tilt Online Poker Series kicked off on Wednesday night with Event #1, a $216 buy-in no limit event with a $1 million guarantee. PocketFivers started the popular tournament series off with a bang, claiming seven out of the top 20 spots and taking home more than $200,000 in total. Scott Dorinvandy Dorin led the way for members of the site in Event #1, finishing second and winning a healthy $120,781. Others at the final table included Mr_Bond222 and fdel15, who plays on Full Tilt Poker under the screen name acedel15. The pair finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Let’s take a look at how PocketFivers fared in the first of 25 tournaments that comprise FTOPS IX.
Scott Dorinvandy Dorin banked $120,781 for his runner up finish in Event #1. The Medina, New York native has piled up several big scores online, including a win in the PokerStars Second Chance in December for $51,084. More recently, he’s notched two cashes (in February and May) in $2,620 buy-in tournaments on Full Tilt Poker for a combined payday of $30,000. Offline, he has three cashes to his name in the World Series of Poker. The largest came in last year’s $2,000 no limit event; he pocketed $10,000.
Mr_Bond222 finished sixth in Event #1. He’s just a few days removed from a second place finish in the $100 buy-in $33,000 Guaranteed (one rebuy plus one add-on) on Full Tilt Poker. He banked $13,376 in that tournament. The Norwegian added $34,096 to his bankroll in last night’s FTOPS tournament. If you’re looking for Mr_Bond222 on PokerStars, you can find him playing under the name Justlimp.
Taking home seventh place in Event #1 was fdel15, who plays under the name acedel15 at Full Tilt. He won a $10 Daily Double on the online poker room for $2,000 in June. The Clementon, New Jersey native is in the 78th percentile on the PocketFives Sliding PLB and we look forward to continued success from him in the future. He took home $26,583 for his seventh place finish.
Finishing in 11th place and fourth best among PocketFivers was LexLuthor85, who plays under the name xTheory on Full Tilt Poker. LexLuthor85 scored $10,922 for his efforts, his largest score to date for tournaments that are tracked for the PocketFives Online Poker Rankings. A week ago, he won a $70 buy-in $10,500 KO Guarantee on Full Tilt for $3,503.
Coming in 15th place in the first event of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series was Steven spiker123 Edwards, who goes by the name spiker zzz on the online poker site. The New Jersey resident has cashes in the Super Tuesday on PokerStars and $75K Guarantee on Full Tilt Poker. He’s in the 85th percentile in the Sliding PLB. On Wednesday night, 15th place earned him $8,033.
Kyle thetruth503 Zartman finished in 16th place, claiming $5,663. He took fourth in the Second Chance on PokerStars for $19,050 in April. One month later, he won the $120 buy-in $25,000 KO Guarantee on Full Tilt Poker for nearly $7,000. In June, Zartman took down the $100 buy-in Turbo Hundo on Full Tilt Poker for $6,474. You can find him on the Full Tilt Poker felts playing under the name thewood503. In the live arena, he finished seventh in the Deep Stack Extravaganza at The Venetian for $21,520 in February.
Rounding out PocketFivers in the top 20 on Wednesday night was Duffy08, who landed in 18th place. Like Zartman, he cashed for $5,663. In May, he finished sixth in the Sunday Million, earning over $30,000. Last month, he won the Nightly Fifty Grand on PokerStars. Duffy08 took home $16,500 for his efforts. If you check out his profile, you’ll notice that his hobbies include “Patrolling the seas of the world whaling and shark spotting, defeating wizards in world class duels, and educating myself on Defense Against the Dark Arts.”
Events #2 and #3 kick off on Thursday night. Event #2 is a $256 Pot Limit Omaha Eight or Better knockout tournament and starts at 2:00pm ET. Event #3 is a $216 no limit hold 'em 4x Shootout Six-Max tournament and kicks off at 9:00pm ET. The Main Event occurs one week from Sunday. We’ll have all of the top results from PocketFivers.
