partypoker’s new Sit & Go Hero adds a bounty element to lottery-style games

partypoker announced the launch of a new fast-paced tournament format this week called Sit & Go Hero. The game borrows heavily from PokerStars’ popular Spin & Go contests, but features a few twists of its own.

Sit & Go Hero games are speedy four-handed tournaments featuring a bounty and a prize pool multiplier. Contests are offered at buy-ins of $1, $3, $5, $10 and $20, each of which can be boosted by up to 10,000x to create a very attractive top prize.

Players start with 500 chips and battle in three-minute long levels. In most games, the first place finisher receives 75% of the prize pool, with the remaining 25% going to the bounty winner and to the rake. When a multiplier of between 50X-1,000X is chosen, however, the second and third place finishers will be paid as well. When a 10,000X multiplier appears, all four lucky players at the table receive a piece of the jackpot, with second, third and fourth each banking 15% of the pot. Players have a chance to win up to a $120,000 first-place prize and a bounty of $50,000.

Rake is highest in the $1 buy-in games at 7%. Players at the $3 and $5 levels pay 6%, with those in the $10 and $20 games paying 5%.

“We wanted to put a new twist on the traditional Sit & Go Jackpot format and give our players something unique in the marketplace,” said Tom Waters, group head of partypoker. “With Sit & Go Hero we believe we have done just that.”

By fusing the site’s popular bounty tournaments with a chance to win a large jackpot, Waters believes that the format is destined to be a hit.

“Our existing bounty MTTs are very popular with our players and the added bonus of a bounty in every game of Sit & Go Hero, combined with huge jackpots of up to 10,000x the player’s stake is set to shake things up for players of all bankrolls.”

Sit & Go Hero is clearly an attempt by partypoker to capitalize on the popularity of the Spin & Go games PokerStars introduced in late 2014. That format, which similarly pits three players up against each other in a turbo-style tournament, is quite similar to partypoker’s creation, but lacks the bounty aspect.

Players who do not yet have a partypoker account can sign-up now and get a 100% bonus up to $500.
