Members of the online poker community took home titles in 16 of the 30 recently completed Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) events, a staggering 53% success rate. Among the champions was Jeremy thechemist83 Gaubert, who came out on top of the pack in Event #15, a $535 Limit HORSE tournament, for a cool $46,000 following a three-way deal. The former winner of the Gold Strike World Poker Open, Gaubert sat down with PocketFives.com to recap his run in the five-game event and signature online poker win.

Gaubert admitted that he might have only played about 20 HORSE tournaments in his life prior to his monumental win during FTOPS XVI. On the pack of players that turned out for the $535 buy-in tournament, Gaubert told PocketFives.com, “It was a really strong field with players much better than me, but there were still some weak spots with players only good at one or two of the five games. If you asked me which event I’d least likely win a jersey in, it'd be that one.” Although he’s won several Sunday Majors, last month marked his first FTOPS jersey.
We asked Gaubert to evaluate his skill level in each of the five games that comprise HORSE: Hold’em, Omaha, Razz, Stud, and Stud Eight or Better: “Stud High-Low is my weakest by far. I think Razz is my strongest game surprisingly (even more so than Limit Hold’em). I think I'm slightly above average in the rest. I'm easily tilted in Limit Hold’em. I tend to try to bluff too much and it never works. I just spew off chips in spots I’m sure better players wouldn't.” A total of 442 players bought into the FTOPS event and the top 56 finished in the money.

The final table featured a gauntlet of talent including poker pro Marc Karam, recent PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) event winner Corey comandr_cool Burbick (pictured at left), Triple Crown winner Chris herdgolf86 Tipper, and longtime community member $JMONEY$. Gaubert evaluated his competition down the stretch: “It was stiff competition obviously. I really don't know anything about any of them as HORSE players, but from what I could tell, they all knew what they were doing and played well. I just played my cards all tournament for the most part and made the most of any value spots that came along the way.”

His ability to travel to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is limited, but Gaubert told us that he’s looking forward to entering the Main Event, which kicks off on July 5th with Day 1A. He explained, “I don’t necessarily care to play huge-field WSOP events. I'm not in it for the bracelet or recognition, I just do what I can to make the most money for myself.” His win in August’s World Poker Open in Tunica was worth $192,000. He also pocketed $115,000 for finishing 58th in the 2008 WSOP Main Event.

On May 3rd, Gaubert finished second in the PokerStars $100 rebuy for $32,000, a tournament he took down in March for $47,000. On Valentine’s Day, he was the runner-up in the PokerStars Sunday 500 for $66,000. The last 60 days have also seen Gaubert come out on top in the UB.com $150,000 Guaranteed for a rock solid $46,000. Since February 14th, he’s banked an impressive $289,000 in tournaments that are tracked for the Online Poker Rankings in just 59 cashes, an average of $4,900 each. All of this comes while typically only firing up the virtual felts on Sundays and Wednesdays.
