I have never claimed to be a bright person, and the other day I did one of the dumbest things I have done in a while, at least in a poker sense. It was about 4:30 p.m., and I wasn't doing much, so I decided I'd try to get a $200 ten man sng going. On a quick side note, I love the format for $100 or higher sngs that are at least 6 handed. I think the HU games are not good this way, and although the ten man games take a while, they are much more fun to play when the game gets down to 3 or 4 handed. <READMORE> Anyways, I sat in the game, and about twenty minutes later my buddy called me and wanted to go get something to eat. Well I just had my breakfast at around 3 but I went anyway. We went to Qdoba with another friend and his girlfriend, kind of relaxed and hung out there for a while, and then they decided they needed to go grocery shopping for their apartment. I didn't care, it's not like I had somewhere better to be.

So we got back about 2 hours later, and I got back to my place and saw a boatload of IM's, and sure enough there was a full 200 ten man sng that I had never left when I went out. I don't mind losing but I hate pissing away money and couldn't believe i just wasted this. Well it turns out the game just filled, and I had only missed about 20 hands, so I grabbed my chair and looked around to see who was in. To my left was DoubleLucky, who was the first person I saw--not a good start. Then I thought, "Why are all these obs here?" I know DoubleLucky is a baller like that, but this seemed excessive. Ahh, that PhilHellmuth guy decided to sit. Was fun to play with him for about 5 minutes until the obs chat made me dizzy, so for the first time ever, I shut it off. Anyway, it worked out fine--I ended up taking 3rd I think and calmed down about forgetting to leave the table.

The Second dumb thing I did this week was try to play some PL omaha again. The game still sucks, I hate it with a passion, and I swear again that I will never play it. Enjoy my donation, WestTexasMan.

I did play the OWNS tourney tonight for the first time in a while, which was pretty boring. I played bad, but bad enough to suck out on Beanie twice, which made the whole tourney worthwhile really. When it was over, I realized I didn't play all that well and noticed I wasn't playing well all day, oh well it happens, right? I was at least happy to be able to look back and see flaws, it lets me know that my head is still on straight, whether or not I am winning.

Now last night I was watching Hardball with Keanue Reeves and chatting with a few people to wrap up the night. A buddy of mine has recently been on a great rush after a long cold spell, so it has been good to see, he deserves it. However, at the end of last night, I saw him take a pretty dirty beat at 10-25 when a guy hit a miracle gutshot on the turn. I like to think I would have handled the beat as well as my buddy did, but he told me, "you play the game--sometimes you win, sometimes you lose." Well no sh*t right? I went over how I'm not the brightest, but even I can figure that one out, so I kind of ignored him. He doesn't always make sense anyway to begin with, and I actually talk to him almost daily and will send him 50 bucks if he can prove he knows my first name isn't actually Denny.

But then he said, "the player did not beat me, the cards did." This one makes sense, as sometimes you really just have to look and say there was nothing else you could do, you didn't get outplayed, you played the hand perfectly and the cards fell the wrong way. They will not always fall the wrong way, so really if you can honestly say you're playing great poker and losing, you can't get worked up about it. Personally, I have been enjoying the game much more recently, and that has helped me win more, so enjoy the game, and if anyone has any extra spare change, I am sure JSUP will need to be bailed out of some Mexican jail and is probably being called Senorita by some large man named Paco right now, so lets pool together and help him out. Stay Classy.</READMORE>
