Tom durrrr Dwan (pictured at right) and Patrik Antonius hit the felts of Full Tilt Poker for the Durrrr Challenge in recent days, with the youngster extending his lead over the wily veteran to nearly $1.1 million. Now one year old, the competition has caused many in the online poker industry to grow restless. The action pits Dwan against Antonius in 50,000 hands of $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha across four tables on Full Tilt. A total of 31,912 hands have played out so far, with nearly 20,000 still to come. Let’s take a look at some of the recent action.

Fifty Durrrr Challenge sessions have been played so far; they began in February of last year. A $193,000 pot that played out during the most recent action featured Antonius raising to $1,200 pre-flop with Ac-Kc-2h-Qc and Dwan making it $3,600 holding 5d-Js-8s-6d. Antonius called and the flop came 9c-7s-As, giving Dwan a straight. Dwan check-raised to $22,000 and Antonius, holding top pair, called. The turn was the Qh and Dwan bet out $51,600. Antonius raised all-in to $70,000 with two pair and Dwan called to see the 5h hit on the river. Dwan raked in the pot with a nine-high straight, while Antonius fell with aces-up.
In another major hand, Antonius (pictured at left) raised to $1,200 with Ks-Qs-6h-Kh and Dwan pushed the price of poker to $3,600 with As-7d-9d-Ad. The two weren’t done there, however, as Antonius raised to $10,800 and Dwan finally just called. The flop came all low cards – 3h-2h-7s – and Dwan check-raised to $63,600 with the overpair. Antonius, holding an overpair and a flush draw, shoved all-in for $85,000 and Dwan called, creating a massive $193,000 purse. Antonius spiked a king on the turn and never looked back, giving him the win in the hand with trips.

The Durrrr Challenge has featured a series of six-figure pots being awarded. In one during the recent action, Antonius raised to $1,200 pre-flop with Qc-7c-9s-6h. Dwan, as has been typical, put in a raise to $3,600, once again holding a wired pair of aces in the hole with Ad-9c-Ah-5d. Antonius bumped it to $10,000 and Dwan raised to $32,000. Antonius elected to call and the flop came 8c-7s-Jc. Dwan bet $36,000 and was all-in with the overpair and straight draws and Antonius made the call. Antonius hit his club flush on the turn and scooped the $136,000 pot.

Dwan has claimed 17,041 of the hands played out so far, an average of $2,700 each, while Antonius has raked in 14,753 for an average of $3,100 per pot. Antonius and Dwan have bet an incredible $260 million in total, with more than four days of play put in. Dwan has largely dominated the challenge from the start, with his most recent venture above $1 million not being the first time he’s led by seven-figures. Around the 15,000-hand mark, Antonius owned a lead of more than $500,000. Since then, it’s been all Dwan.

Meanwhile, the Full Tilt Poker Million Dollar Cash Game had users of PocketFives.com buzzing. A $1.1 pot brewed between Dwan and 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event November Nine member Phil Ivey (pictured at right). Both players turned a straight on a board of Q-3-5-4. Ivey held A-2 for a wheel, while Dwan had 6-7 for the nuts. The money went into the middle and Dwan raked in the massive pot. On the announcers’ reactions to the monumental hand, PocketFives.com member ali2coolwitu commented, “I don’t blame the commentators for freaking out... they were there when it actually happened, I would have the gitters sitting there watching those 3 play as well.” Check out the Million Dollar Cash Game thread in Poker Discussion.

In a thread about the online Durrrr Challenge, PocketFives.com members were not as impressed. Bronx native elee explained, “durrrr is a losing player and he is still getting attention. after losing millions there is no reason for him to ever been acknowledged until he somehow accomplishes something in the poker world.” Dwan lost over $5 million to Swedish online poker player Isildur1 during his late 2009 run, almost single-handedly funding the European’s bankroll.

The general public nominated Dwan for the 2009 class of the Poker Hall of Fame before a nominating committee struck him from the ballot. Stay tuned to PocketFives.com for the latest high-stakes poker news.

 1.
Lol how is he a losing player?

 2.
Ilisldur started playing Durrrr at 100KNL and had made many millions before they played a hand together. I don't think Durrrr almost single-handedly funded his bankroll by any stretch.

He gave him retirement money, but as Omar always say "money ain't got no owners only spenders".

You could probably wipe a couple paragraphs out of this article and improve it greatly imo.
