Tournament Review for July 14, 2014
Guarantees for major online poker tournaments were slashed over the weekend due to the World Cup final match. Lower MTT participation than general was commonplace on Sunday.
However, that didn’t prevent NestaRasta of Mexico from having a career day at the virtual tables, as he won the PokerStars Sunday Million outright for $173,732. The win could potentially boost his worldwide ranking to the Top 1,000 for the first time ever. Fellow member TuckYouIn of Canada (pictured, ranked #850 worldwide) also recorded his largest online tournament cash to date, with a 3rd place showing for $91,474. Ally squire of the United Kingdom finished 6th in the flagship event for $36,101.
PocketFiver Mikhail zinkaGalitskiy of the Russian Federation topped a field of more than 2,300 opponents to take down the Stars Sunday Warm-Up for $73,091. The Stars $100 Sunday Rebuy was won by 2014 WSOP Event #30 champion Calvin cal42688 Anderson (ranked #42 worldwide) for a payday of $37,092.
There was a final table chop in the Sunday 500 that involved two PocketFives members. Korea’s jjyykkfinished runner-up for $32,130 while BBOY3110 negotiated his way to a 4th place payout of $30,119.
