Tournament Review for November 16, 2015
PocketFives members were out in full force over the weekend, and took four of the top five spots in the PokerStarsSunday Million weekly flagship tournament. 8th-ranked Artem veeeaVezhenkov of Uruguay (pictured) made a case for reaching the #1 spot worldwide for the first time in his career upon taking down the event outright for $183,675. Surprisingly, the Fallout video game series fan (which can be seen from his P5s profile image) had time to put in a stellar performance in the Sunday Million despite the recent release of Bethesda’s latest title and the settlement-building implications that go with that. Germany’s Danteiskingwas the 3rd place finisher in the Sunday Million and received $95,985. Meanwhile, pilsuhngof the United Kingdom and prsalute of Greece collected $66,538 and $49,770 for their respective 4th and 5th place finishes in that event.
Malta’s SvZff(ranked #90 worldwide) captured an outright victory in the Stars Sunday Warm-Up for $80,770 and will likely move back into the Top 50 as a result. In the Sunday 500, buckguy 2200of Mexico (ranked #282 worldwide) walked away with $63,260 for his non-chop win as #16-ranked cswami of Canada placed 3rd for a payday of $34,076.
The biggest online poker tournament winner in history, Chris moorman1 Moorman of the United Kingdom (pictured), who has over $12.6 million in lifetime online event cashes and is currently ranked #100 worldwide — got yet another victory lap in with a 1st place finish in the Stars Sunday Supersonic for $47,032.
It was up to VinnyCoutof Brazil and jjshooter of Canada to complete the PocketFiver-sweep for wins in covered Sunday tournaments on PokerStars. The two reached a heads-up chop agreement which saw them take home $25,945 and $22,542 for their 1st and 2nd place performances after outlasting more than 32,000 opponents.
The United Kingdom’s lNormaJeantook 2nd place in the 888 Poker$150k Guaranteed “Mega Deep” tournament for a score of $21,164. Finland’s OgSulttaaniwas the runner-up in the Full Tilt Sunday Major tournament and won $13,432 following a three-way final table deal.
