It was pretty sick coincidence on Monday, as the only two players ever to win PokerStarsTriple COOP titles – Shawn buck21 Buchanan and James Andy McLEOD Obst – each won another SCOOP event. Did we mention it happened on the same day? Yes, we’re a bit sketched out ourselves.

We’ll start with Obst (pictured), who won the high-stakes version of Event #26, a $2,100 Stud High-Low tournament, on Monday. There were 86 players in this puppy, but the field consisted of multiple World Series of Poker bracelet winners and World Poker Tour champions. Nevertheless, Obst entered the final table with a healthy chip lead and walked off with $46,000 and his second career SCOOP title.

Obst won a SCOOP event in 2009, defeating, of all people, Steve gboro780 Gross heads-up for $184,000. His TCOOP victory came earlier this year in a $215 HORSE tournament that saw him defeat a field of nearly 500 players for $18,000. Obst’s WCOOP bracelet came in September 2013 in a $215 Pot Limit Omaha contest that attracted over 1,200 entrants.

Buchanan (pictured) took down a $1,050 Five Card Omaha High-Low Six-Max Turbo Rebuy on Monday, the high-stakes version of Event #27 of the ongoing SCOOP. Buchanan went toe-to-toe with Bertrand ElkY Grospellier for the win after entering the final six as the third largest stack. Buchanan earned just shy of $100,000 for the win, while Grospellier made $65,000.

Buchanan’s WCOOP title came in 2007 in a $530 Pot Limit Omaha event that drew more than 1,000 runners. He has a total of three SCOOP wins under his belt (2012, 2013, 2014) and won a TCOOP Razz event in January of this year to round out his Triple COOP.

When he took down a TCOOP event in January to become PokerStars’ first Triple COOP winner, Buchanan told officials, “Being the first to achieve the Triple Crown of COOP feels great. Online poker has a massive player pool and lots of great players, so this is quite the achievement.”
