I won a small PL omaha h/l tourney on Paradise yesterday where I made what I thought was a reasonable call on the money bubble (paid 5/45 players). It pretty much got me there and made someone basically go nuts on me and call me many names.

I was in 2nd position and trying to get heads up by 2 betting I had 5200 left and the blinds were 400-800. I was dealt QJJ9 with the queen and the 9 being suited and made it 1600. Another player reraises the pot, which is more than I have with AA28, ace and deuce being suited. I was pretty sure he had that kind of hand, but here is the thought process that led me to the call: <READMORE>

1. If I win this pot I'm probably going to win the whole pot.

2. If I fold I have 3600 left with and average stack being around 10k

3. If I win this hand I think I can win this tournament

4. If I lose this hand it's ok because I'm not likely to make the money with 3600 left anyway (everyone else is close to avg).

5. I've got caught in the hand by making it two bets, but I have the close enough to the odds and its the right situation to call in my opinion

So, I've bet 1600, he's all in for another 3600 to me and the blinds are in the pot 400 and 800, so I need to call 3600 for a pot of 6400 which will give me 10k and an average stack if I win against players who I think I can beat if I get to avg. I'm getting less than 2-1. My chances of scooping are about 4.8-1. My chances of taking the high are 3.3-1. From an odds perspective, not the best, but for me the situation, I'm willing to roll the dice.

I make jacks full and have to listen to this guy for five minutes tell me what a bad player I am. All the while, I'm taking down more pots and winning this thing.

I think there are times when you just need to go for it. Scratch for 5th with 3600 left or try to win the tournament? Hmmm, what should I do........ I didn't say a word to him because I'm not going to teach someone who is bad mouthing me and not trying to take into account the situation.
