Alright so it's been a few weeks since I last blogged. Maybe I'm a slacker, I guess I can't really deny that. However, the big reason that I haven't been blogging is because I really have not been playing too much the past couple of weeks. I have played here and there but nothing that serious. Things have not been too great at the tables--I mean recently I have taken some beats, which is frustrating, but over the past week or so I have found that my play has been off, which for me, is much more aggravating for me than taking beats. The good news is that this problem is fixable; the bad news is that playing the way I have been has been costly and irritating. <READMORE>

I will say that this weekend has taken a little bit of the edge off. I swore I was done with poker after the $200 on UB last Sunday, when I was sitting 6th in chips with 100 left and had my KK run into AA, which led to me not even cashing. Hey, at least I didn't take 61st (one out of the money), I feel bad for that poor fool. Anyway, through the week I have been talking to a variety of people for advice, because I don't want to be done with poker forever. These people have talked me down a bit, and in the process have got my head back in the game. I played the other night and actually felt great, even though I didn't win. Winning wasn't really the point--I was feeling good mentally and my confidence started to come back, which was my main objective. I will still break for a while, but I am much more optimistic that when I come back I will be playing at the top of my game.

One of the biggest things that got my mind back on came up in a pretty ironic way. I watched the movie 8 Mile last night, yup thats just how I roll, and I made the comment to someone (after a sick penny table game that I will mention after this), that like Eminem says, you only get one shot--don't miss your chance. I said it half jokingly, I guess, but his response was that this game is all second chances, and that no one ever perfects it on the first time. And this is so true, everyone is always making mistakes in the game. The best ones minimize these mistakes of course, but they also make sure they don't make the same mistakes twice. You don't only have one chance to get it right in this game--it's a long and often frustrating journey. Just know that when things are bad, there will always be a second chance coming if you want it.

OK, so I was playing this big .01-.02 NL game tonight after I had gotten back from hanging out and enjoying myself with some buddies. It was the big show, from what I remember--PokerH0, KNUCKLE HEAD, h0ldempr0, and yngmanN4quiki were all there when I took a seat. It's always fun to play games like this, because no one cares and no one gets mad. Personally I believe it's a great way to bring the fun back in the game for me. On a side note, always enjoy the game--when it's not fun anymore, that's when it's time to walk away for a while. Anyway, one of the suckers that I mentioned before made the comment that hey, maybe I should blog about this game. Well here it is, a mention of the penny game in the blog. It is ridiculous how 3 pair does consistently lose in this penny game, but regardless, it's a blast. The only winner in the game was yngman, and I am pretty sure this is due to the fact that he called tech. support and his 9 high's started holding up. His stack hit $160 (max buy in is $2), but the sick thing is that I think he is better known as a WORLD CLASS omaha player.
