Last month, romdomcame away with an outright win in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for $80,000. There were 2,667 entrants that day and, accordingly, he told us, “It feels great. I have been working really hard on my game and it finally paid off.” He booked his third largest career online poker score.

romdom was focusing on the Warm-Up and the Big Ben at the same time down the stretch. He explained, “I was around 20 big blinds pretty much all the way until the final table bubble. One key hand I remember was when I got it all-in with A-A against A-Q of diamonds and the flop came 10-J-8 with two diamonds and I held. That was a big turning point. At the final table, I had to play pretty tight because the big stacks were on my left. I was fortunate to win a bunch of flips and come out on top.”

As for what he wants to do with the money, romdom casually said, “Play more poker.” He added, “I do want to get my dogs cloned, but I’m not sure if I trust the technology.” He hit $2 million in tracked online MTT scores two days ago, so he’s on his way to cloning his pet.

His two biggest career cashes came in 2010, when he finished seventh in the WCOOP Main Event for $280,000 and won the Sunday Million for another $240,000. A half-million dollars later, his career had taken off. He explained, “Almost five years later, those scores haven’t sunk in. The people I’ve met and become close with as a result and the things I’ve been able to do are really just staggering.”

Black Friday occurred just a few months after his WCOOP Main Event final table and romdom was at a crossroads. He played on a few of the remaining US-facing sites, then unsuccessfully tried to run a used car dealership, but it didn’t work out. So, he packed his bags and headed to Mexico to start grinding.

He’s currently camped out in Playa Del Carmen(pictured) with a few other ex-pats and said of traveling south, “The move was pretty easy; I just had to jump. The only thing I really miss are my two dogs, but I go home to visit every couple of months. I don’t know if I ever plan on leaving unless there is some anti-poker legislation in Mexico.”

romdom got his start in poker when he and ROMDOM82were in college together. The duo saw Chris Moneymaker win the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event and started up a home game. He ultimately deposited a few times online and initially played in cash games before moving on to sit and gos and MTTs. He has amassed over 2,500 in the money finishes over the years and can currently be found at #12 worldwide in the PocketFives Rankings, his highest slotting ever.

Outside of poker, romdom is a fan of video games. He also plays basketball with his friends from Playa del Carmen, but added, “Lately, it has been wake up at 7:00am, play poker from 8 to 8, sleep, and do it again. I go to sleep excited to register for the next day. It’s probably not healthy, but it’s paying the bills.”

Congrats to romdom on his Sunday Warm-Up title!
