Last month, Roman Romanovskyi (pictured), known as Romeoproon PocketFives, scooped his fourth PocketFives Triple Crown. He has now won one a year since 2012 and, this time around, took down the PartyPokerSaturday Major, WinamaxTop 50, and PokerStars $109 Rebuy. We caught up with the Kiev resident to talk about his latest claim to fame.

PocketFives: Tell us how you’re feeling about winning your fourth Triple Crown.

Roman Romanovskyi: Pretty great. First of all, I want to thank PocketFives for its existence because it’s one of the biggest, if not the biggest, motivating factors for me. PocketFives has such a great rankings system compared to the one on PokerStars, for example, where you can just grind a million $1 to $11 tourneys with big fields every day and if you know at least something about the game, you will do fine. PocketFives’ system is way better and more well-rounded overall.

PocketFives: Which of the three Triple Crown tourneys was the most challenging and why?

Roman Romanovskyi: Skill-wise, the toughest one was the $100 Rebuy, where I was battling heads-up against Mohsin chicagocards1 Charania, but the most challenging was definitely the Winamax Top 50 because I was playing for only the second time on Winamax and wasn’t used to it, but luckily I managed to ship it.

PocketFives: Talk about playing heads-up against chicagocards1 (pictured).

Roman Romanovskyi: It was pretty fun overall. I felt like I outplayed him a little bit or was at least lucky enough to get through two or three pretty big bluffs. I thought I played pretty much perfectly heads-up. After reviewing it, I didn’t find even a tiny mistake. But, as I usually do when things don’t go my way, in the middle of the match I started complaining, which I’m not a fan of, but sometimes I just can’t handle myself when I’m running badly. I’m trying my best to complain less every session I play.

PocketFives: You had a solid end to 2014. Talk about finishing the year and if any momentum has carried over to this year.

Roman Romanovskyi: It was solid even though I didn’t make a run at the Yearly TLB title in the last three months, but it still was a pretty decent finish to the year overall. I have definitely carried my momentum over to 2015, as I am pretty confident in myself to make a run at the Yearly PLB title as well as a couple of even tougher goals. PS, I am taking prop bets on the Yearly PLB against anyone, so PM me if you’re interested.

PocketFives: Are you playing any of the WSOP?

Roman Romanovskyi. No. At this moment in my career, I feel like I have a lot more motivation toward my online goals than live. It was the other way around when I turned 21 and went to the WSOP for the first time. That was only two years ago basically.

PocketFives: Who, in your opinion, are the best online tournament players in the world right now and, in particular, in the CIS region?

Roman Romanovskyi. The games get tougher each day, so there are lots of really good players, but in my opinion a few stand out: CrownUpGuy (pictured), European, apestyles, and smokrokflock. I could have added couple of my favorite tournament players like lechuckpoker, philbort, Pokernoob999, LarzLuzak, and Imper1um, but all of them are playing 90% live now or, like LarzLuzak, are basically cash game players.

As for the CIS region, it’s the same situation as the worldwide scene: there are a lot of good players, but I can single out a few. OMGitshunt is a pretty much flawless tournament player and I would name him “the best” in CIS if I ruled out myself. Also, I want to mention veeea, accussity, and hellohellohello. They all are really good players who have very tiny leaks/flaws in their game, but are still among the top pros.

Congrats to Romanovskyi on his latest Triple Crown!
