Earlier this month, Justin Ouimette(pictured) won the Full Tilt Sunday Brawlfor $26,000, defeating a field of 646 entrants. Amazingly, it was his second time winning the tournament this year, his first coming in January for $24,000. Did we mention that he also final tabled the Super Tuesday last month for $43,000, his largest online tournament score to date? Yes, it’s good to be Justin Ouimette.

“It feels awesome,” he told PocketFives in an exclusive interview. “Things have been going super well. The year so far has been a dream. I have had four of my top five scores, my biggest cash ever, and an FTOPS jersey. It’s something I’ve dreamed about doing since I started playing online poker.” He is up to $1.6 million in career online MTT scores.

What has been going right for Ouimette this year? Has he been drinking the red Kool-Aid? “Things have been going smoothly,” he shared. “I’m playing the best I’ve ever played, working on my game a lot, and trying some new things. Luckily for me, it’s working out. I’ve been playing less volume lately, but when I do play, I’ve been trying to play my best and make as few mistakes as possible. Things have changed for sure.”

His fiancée Morgan and he have a four month old named Olivia. We think the newborn might be part of the reason for his success, as he joked, “She’s the absolute nuts. She’s my run good. She gives me a reason to succeed and I’m more determined than I’ve ever been to win. It can be a struggle to make time for everything, though. My fiancée works insanely hard and is an amazing mother. She is the reason I still get to grind and do what I love. I owe lots of my success to her. Without her, it wouldn’t be possible.”

Ouimette is getting married on May 30, just a few weeks from now, and is leaving for Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker two days later. He’ll be camped out at the WSOP in June and, consequently, will delay his honeymoon until September.

I’m playing the biggest package I’ve ever played at the WSOP, something like 20 bracelet events and some other side events,” he explained. One tournament he won’t be playing is the Main Event, as he has a wedding to attend on July 11. So many weddings.

Ouimette’s vows, by the way, will take place at Caesars Windsor, which is in his hometown. He’s going on a cruise to the Bahamas in September and closed our interview by saying, “I want to thank my family for all of their support: my parents Laurie and Kevin Ouimette, my wife-to-be Morgan, and my daughter Olivia. I’m blessed to have such amazing people in my life. I also want to mention the stable I play for, SNGMentors, the most reliable staking and coaching group I’ve ever been a part of.”

The two-time Sunday Brawl winner is up to #74 worldwide in the PocketFives Poker Rankings, his highest position ever, and is #9 in Canada.
