On Tuesday, records were shattered at the World Poker Tour, as a $200,000 buy-in Super High Roller Event was announced for the tour’s stop in the Philippines. The record-breaker starts on January 3, and the festival itself runs from January 2 to 8.

This is the richest buy-in tournament the WPT has ever run. President and CEO of the Poker King Club, Winfred Yu, commented in a press release, “We at Poker King Club always aim to push the boundaries of poker, which led to us being named the ‘Home of the World’s Biggest Game.’ That aim is now coming to WPT National Philippines with a Super High Roller and we are happy to add the gravitas of well-known poker players into that mix, such as Aussie Millions champion and businessman Mr. Richard Yong.”

Yu, the Cali Group, and the Poker King Club are organizing the High Roller Event. WPT Philippines will take place for the second straight year at the Solaire Resort and Casino.

WPT President and CEO Adam Pliska (pictured) added, “With the addition of the $200,000 buy-in Super High Roller, the largest buy-in in WPT history, we look forward to welcoming some of the best poker players on tour to the Philippines, along with some of the world’s wealthiest enthusiasts.”

Several players were talking about the $200,000 buy-in event on Twitter, including PocketFiver Christian charder Harder, who wrote, “I’m sure they only are doing it because they have confirmation from a few Asian businessmen.” The tournament has unlimited re-entries until Level 9 and will last for two days.

Day 1A of the $1,650 buy-in WPT National Philippines Main Event begins on January 4, the first of two starting days. Players are allowed to enter on both days and their largest stack will carry over to Day 2. The final table takes place on January 8. Check out the full schedule here.

Across the Pacific, the 2016 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure begins on January 6. Running around the same time in Australia is the 2016 Aussie Millions, which begins in mid-January.
