In 2015 Tommy Yates turns a penny into a WSOP Main Event seat and a ride of a lifetime.

The 2017 World Series of Poker is just over 100 days away and players around the world now know they can again qualify for the WSOP Main Event via one of the world’s leading online poker sites. The WSOP and 888poker announced a two-year extension of their current contract that sees 888 act as exclusive online provider of WSOP qualifier satellites and promotions.

“WSOP is delighted to have renewed our agreement with 888poker for the third year running,” said Ty Stewart, WSOP Executive Directo. “We’ve seen 888poker really up the stakes in the past few years, with a refreshing new online and offline approach which aims to give the power back to the players. This shared vision and love of the game means it’s a natural partnership for both our brands.”

The extension sees 888poker remain the exclusive way for players to qualify online outside of the United States through 2018. 888poker clearly sees the partnership as an opportunity to further their brand in the online poker space.

“Our extended partnership with the WSOP is a testament to our increasingly dominant position in the industry and our longstanding commitment to making poker more exciting and accessible for players around the world,” said Itai Pazner, Senior Vice President & Head of B2C at 888 Holdings. “As part of our wider mission to empower all players, and in the interests of giving everyone a shot at winning big, we’ll once again offer our members the incredible opportunity to enter the world’s biggest and most prestigious live tournament, from as little as one cent.”

In 2015, Tommy Yates made his way from Greece to Las Vegas to play in the WSOP Main Event after qualifying for just one cent. Yates finished 486th for $19,500.

In 2016, two players who qualified through 888poker made their way to the November Nine. Spaniard Fernando Pons won his way in from a €30 satellite while Canadian and former #1-ranked player Griffin Benger won a €160 satellite to earn his $10,000 entry. The pair were just two of the 250 players who qualified via 888poker.

Qualifiers are already running on 888poker and will continue to do so until June.
