Yup, Not Much has Changed[ return to main articles page ]
So I haven't put up a blog in a while, I was actually surprised they even kept the old ones up, but anyways I figured I might as well throw some ramblings out there. <READMORE>
The reason there haven't been any blogs is pretty much because it's summer. Summer has been going great, but I haven't played much poker so I haven't had much to write about. I did go out to Vegas for the WSOP, didn't play any events, if your wondering why I have my reasons. The trip was a blast, I think I played maybe 10 hours of poker in my week stay, the rest was spent golfing and in various Vegas entertainment spots. I did try to play a few more hours my last night there at the Palms with gator93 before my flight, but there was an incident regarding some laws that I may or may not have been trying to break which kept me out of the game. Oh well, probably just saved me money anyways. However, I guess the WSOP is old news by now so I won't talk to much about that, but it was good to see everyone I knew and meet some new people so thanks to everyone who made the trip great, I guess a special shout out to Beanie who hooked it up while we were out there.
This past week after a few vacations and hillbilly music fests, I decided to get back into poker, especially the tournament aspect. I hadn't played a multi in over a month and was starting to miss it. So Monday morning I woke up quick at the crack of noon and made it in time for UB's afternoon 100. Long story short, I played pretty well, took 11th place, a kick in the balls itself, and was rewarded with 5 dollars profit. So after 5 hours of work, I was stuck 3 bucks because Quiznos cost me 8 bucks. I then realized why I had gotten sick of tournaments. I was determined to dedicate this week to tourneys though. So Tuesday night I saddled back up and played UBs 20k. This tournament was going almost perfectly, the hands were coming to me, I was winning the pots I was supposed to and just quietly picking up little pots to build the stack, with about 30 or so people left I was in 1st place and realized why I liked tourneys again. We got down to about 16 or so and I was sittin top 3, chip leader to my right, exactly where he should be, and I was just avoiding playing monster pots until the final, where I was planning on being at least top 5 so I could really get to work. Of course I busted out 14th after deciding to play an all-in pot with the chip leader, sweet move. Needless to say I swore off tournaments for life. So what's the point? I dunno, maybe it's that tournaments suck and it's obvious that the top 10 ranked tourney players are just the luckiest people alive. Guess I'll let people take some shots at me for that one, most likely gator93s legion of angry fans, if anyone is readin this in the first place.
I guess that's about all I got, I did play a little on NoblePoker, trying to win a million, shockingly I wasn't successful, let's face it, that's all rigged anyways. I do believe most online poker is legit, even when I'm in a rut. But no new poker site that's trying to get started is gonna let anyone take a million dollars from them. If I'm somehow wrong then congrats to whoever wins it. And does anyone miss UB having full 10 handed games in the 5-10 or 2-4 limits, I know UB makes more off the rake in 6 handed games because they get more hands in but personally I think they killed any normal poker at those stakes. Anyways, my opinion means nothing so I'm not sure why I brought that up anyways.
Alright good luck to everyone, I think I'll be in Tunica for the circuit events, so any of the top 10 players who now think I'm a dumb punk can run into me there. I was only kidding, much respect to all those players, they are great and if anyone has any suggestion on how not to choke in tourneys gimme a shout. Be easy everyone and enjoy the rest of summer. Thanks for stopping by. </READMORE>
