Can't Beat Bankroll Management

By bigcoled - Dec 28 2008, 06:36 AM

I'm a flighty person.  I have a hard time focusing, and concentrating my efforts on my continual improvement.  I have a job, I work 10 hour shifts, it makes it hard for me to focus completely when I play, and I am usually fairly tired.
I give in easily and make bad calls, because when I'm nearing exhaustion my fold button simply doesn't work.  It would be ok to play like this occasionally if I had a proper bankrool, but because I'm a common working guy every tourney I play is more and more important and nearing the bubble, struggling to be sure I cash keeps me from optimal play...
I need to win the lottery, it's simple as that...

Sounds like you should concentrate on work since it provides the greatest and most secure income at this time. I would save your poker bankroll and sanity for days or nights when well rested and mentally sound. Continuing to play in the manner described will only cause more stress, prolong your poker evolution and kill your bankroll. If you need a poker fix, spend time watching the top level online players or read up on strategy. Low buy in home games are a good way to relax, spend time with friends and get some poker in. GL to you in 2009.

I feel the same way. I've been working on playing much smaller buy-ins when feeling tired or stressed.
