HOG BLOG: WSOP MAIN EVENT

By BigHog1 - Jun 26 2008, 06:11 PM

It's June 26th and I am at the Pittsburgh Airport waiting for my 6:30 pm flight to take off for Vegas.  It is now 9:15 pm - yeah, I'm gonna be 3 hrs late at best getting to bed tonight. Seems like thunderstorms are delaying all flights in and out of the Burgh.  Seems to happen each time I try to go to Vegas.  Either I'm delayed for hours or have to sleep over in forsaken places like Cincinnati because of snow storms.  Ugh.
I wanted to get to Vegas a week early to play in some Deep Stack events at the Venetian.  I was there a few weeks ago and final tabled once and cashed 25 in another so my game is coming into shape, finally.
I have been playing live or online so infrequently because of business related commitments that I felt stale the first time I sat in a live game.  I played like everyone was holding the nuts against me - like a scared pig (pardon the pun).  But, since my 2 cashes my confidence has been building and I am getting close to the "old me".  Since I was voted one of the toughest player who were under the radar by a pocketfives poll of the pros 2 or 3 years ago, I have a reputation to uphold, IF I ONLY COULD FIND THE TIME TO PLAY TOURNAMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Plane has just landed after being diverted to Columbus, Ohio so I have to sign off.
If this blog holds anyone's interest, I'll continue to post a few times a week until I'm booted out of the main event.

Thanks for looking in.

About BigHog1

Aside from my love of poker, I used to be quite a backgammon player. In fact, in 1984 (before most of the world was born), I won the US professional Backgammon Championships at the now imploded Sands Hotel. The final match was shown live over closed circuit TV as my opponent and I played in a soundproof room somewhere else. One of the color commentators for the finals was Paul Magriel!!!
