17 The Year 2016
Hello readers, Sorry for the long break before posting this but December and January are quite busy and I was in Latvia for about a month. December was a fun month overall. Managed to grind a bit but did real poor job on studying the game which I think kind of affected the results. But lets look at the numbers instead. December goals Play 500 MTTs - Played 591 games in December. So the ...

6 2016 Recap
2016 turned out to be another incredible year for me in poker. The year started out really strong before having a 2 ½ month rough period in the summer. It then closed out with an even stronger finish even with December being a down month. When the year started I had 6 goals I had set for myself which I’ll recap here with some commentary. 1. $120,000 in cashes- This is down from the $175k in ...

6 December Results- “Christmas Lull”
As anticipated I didn’t really have a lot of time to play in December. Being a pastor means that December is a busier time of the year, so poker definitely takes a backseat. Our church though had a great Christmas season and to me one of the highlights was our band covering Trans Siberian Orchestra’s “Christmas Eve in Sarajevo”. As for poker, in the little I was able to play it was a ...

control. Its hard and has a snow ball type of affect on results. Was going to do chores and what not get some things straight but played poker instead. Not having the control to do the things I dont like clearly told me I would not have control when playing poker. But if I had the control I would have not played poker and then would not have needed the control to win. WTF Success: +76.53

Well I have been slacking off. Taking advice gleamed from Doug and Alec to play the game you enjoy playing and find non saturated markets. I feel like it will be a good shift and decided to focus pretty much exclusively on Omaha Hi/Lo. Dropping the free roles didn't play in any. Quitting smoking again. Getting back into my schedule that has been thrown off by snow and holidays. "Some times I ...

20 Hyper turbo heads up and a a lengthy challenge for 2017
A new year is dawning and with that most people decide to embark upon a certain goal. Thus, I have decided to follow suit. A small bit of background information before I decide to divulge my plans. I am a 30 year old teacher that also works part time in a bar. I have been playing poker for the best part of 10 years, originally on ipoker but since 2011 or so I have played only on stars. Like most ...

Well a lot of advice is saying don't have a monetary goal within an amount of time. So lets do number of hands 758 this week not including tournaments or 7 stud Hi/Lo. I have got tracking software now and purged all my previous hands and just started from this week. It said I was up like $70 for cash games so I must have really burnt a lot playing tournaments. Any how hand count can be a fun new ...

What an Amazing Year in Poker . After being away from the Felt for 9 years for Various Reasons i played my 1st Poker Tournament since 2007. I flew out to Los Angeles to see Black Sabbath in Feb. at the LA Forum and the show was Amazing. I was just playing in the ACR OSS 60k and the Tournament Crashed to Technical issues. I was in for 2 buyins and it was early but i had set the day to the side to play this event. 6 November Results- “We Win a New Car!”
After last month’s near record for cashes, I came into November thinking that I’d cut some of my volume since I had made such a huge push towards the end of October. However, even with playing less the first few days of the month, I had a bunch of huge results including a 3rd in the Merge Sunday Big Ticket which right away put me on pace for November to be a new record. So I pushed hard again ...

Last week I took the easy way out and deposited a fresh $100 into my Black Chip poker. I feel really conflicted about it because i took the easy way out and I failed to fail. 9 Chris Perkins: A Year in Review
I know we still have one more month until 2017, but where did 2016 go' What a year it was! This was by far the most exciting year for me as far as poker goes. I started off 2016 with a $14,000 upswing and started playing more live poker with immediate success. I was able to travel to some beautiful places this year, thanks to Intertops Poker and their small/soft live satellites. ...

Well I broke down and pissed the whole roll away. I watch Jaime Staples Vlog and he is like the opposite of a motivational speaker he does more self reflecting then preaching I really enjoy that. Read "More Holdem Excellence" By Lou Krieger lots of stuff I have seen before I think people stole it from this book it was written in 1997. Any how the intro about the American dream made me want to cry. Tilted away dollars in the cash games and failed to cash in the freerole. Wasted four hours this week. It was a hard week my reality is testing me. At one point had the roll up to 8 dollars ...

Why do you want to play Poker' Nowadays many play poker with the aim of earning money and fame quickly. Got tenth for a min cash in the $10 so not on the leader board no free tournament tickets this week. However I did get $0.55 for the min cash. 17 Rihard4a UPDATE: Subscribed for Assassinato Twitch
Hello P5s! A week has passed since my first entry. Not much really happened, been working, playing, getting coaching and grinding. Running fairly bad recently, losing all my 70%+ hands preflop/postflop (all-ins). Sucks a little bit because I know that those hands could have made the difference for some nice deep runs, but that's MTT poker. Shit happens, I just have to accept it and move on, all ...

Hello young world ^^ Not to put a soul in a weird mood. Today is my grandmother's funeral. And as hard as it is to let go of ppl you truly love, it as to be done. She was everything to me. My father, mother and a friend. I don't live with regrets, but I will say I am unhappy that I wasn't able to give her that "dream home" before she passed. The way how I look at this now, is that I have my ...

1 My Bovada MTT: Journey To Become Pro
Hello World! here we go... I'm 29 years old tournament player from Florida, U.S. Please pardon my poor writing. This blogging took a lot out of me ( literally few months now to man up, write down, open up). I believe this blog entry will serves a great purpose in my commitment to the game. By open-up publicly like this, i will be exploited, laughed, or even hated but I ...

Hello my fellow P5ers! Short Bio My name is Rihards, Latvian poker player residing in the UK for the moment. I have stayed here for 7 years, most of the time spent studying. 17 Betting the books vs betting the felts
This will not be a long one. Thank you for taking time to consider reading this blog. And my previous ones. Since lately I have been having a blast doing my sports bettings, compared to playing poker. Even though I haven't been playing poker as much as I did before, even after getting Jivaro and HM2. Been playing poker online now for over eight years, with no major results to date... Even though ...

3 Previous Tournament Plus an Unreal Saturday
As 2-3 weeks have passed since I last had chance to sit down and update my blog, I thought I would take the opportune moment this evening. Unfortunately have had some family problems which has stopped me from playing recently and other than work I've not exactly done much. Previously around 3 weeks ago I had one Thursday off work due to working the weekend. This meant I could finally sit down and ...

13 Travel: About Amsterdam
So, here is Amsterdam. 1. We are arriving. The plots of land are separated from each other by the channels. 2. The airport surprises you with the fact that the majority of the taxis in it are the Tesla cars. 3. This photo has it all, everything that characterizes Amsterdam: the channels, the flowers, the bicycles, the gingerbread houses. 4. It is nice near the ...

5 the term "good" in poker
It's been awhile since i had much to say on here. Last update was my goals for 2015. While I don't remember what was mentioned there. Some goals have been met I'm sure. While others probably haven't. That's the nature of goals. You set them high and in a good year you'll be right in the middle. Those that know me know that I'm a very huge Texas Rangers fan. Ive been following them closely ...

13 A little bit about the culture
Let's put aside subject of traveling for a little bit. Recently, in my the Russian-language blog, I got asked the following question: I will share my opinion here, as well. There are three categories of worthy movies, in my opinion. Clearly, this categorization itself is arbitrary, as well as including a particular film in one of these categories. The first category is for well-made ...

17 Sports over Variance
I haven't done this in a minute. Just get right to the meat of the bone. With the sports seasons coming in now, the soccer's, basketball and my favourite, NFL. I am using these avenues to build a br for my poker mtts and the variances that comes with those streets. For me its easier for me to bet $50 on SB than it is for me to play a MTT for the same price. I honestly get way more rush doing SB ...

13 Traveling: Budapest, part 2
Let's return to our walks around Budapest. So, you are walking along the street in the downtown, not bothering anyone, checking out the little houses: OMG, What is that' Some weird fences and czech hedgehogs. Some security checkpoints, traffic lights and the gates just like in the high security prison. And all this is located in the main city square. No kidding, ...

13 Traveling: Budapest
Budapest is the most underrated European city. A fairy-tale city. It’s so nice here. Budapest is an amazing city. If I were asked to rate European capitals in terms of best places to live, it would definitely take the last place. Nevertheless, I think that Budapest is by far the best place for hanging out with friends or taking lone walks. If you are traveling to ...
