  1. In 24 hours I will be leaving for Las Vegas. I am staying with Garrr210 and Chazley for most of it, then friends and my gf for the tail end. I am playing around $7.5k in tournaments, including WSOP Event #18 (1500 NL), #20 (1000 NL), and #43 (1500 NL). The rest of the tournaments are Venetian Deep Stack events ranging from $350 -$560, Caesar's Mega Stack $350s, and a couple WSOP Rio Daily Deep Stack $235. I sold around 50% of my action, and donating 1% to St Jude's Research Hospital. Hoping to play and run extraordinarily well. If I breakeven/profit I am going to attempt to return for the main event, as long as I am able to sell a good % of action (around 65% probably).

Focused completely on poker June 6th through June 20th, then done with my schedule and girlfriend is flying in for four days. Great way to recover after a long live grind.

To follow my results my twitter will be updated as much as I can: http://twitter.com/#!/chrispy2005.

I will also try to blog close to daily, mostly on my stake blog: http://chrispywsop.blogspot.com/, but will try to post here too. I am not quite sure on how easily I will be able to get internet access (not free at hotel im staying, so will rely on free wifi zones), so my blog may never update. Twitter ftw?

Anyway GL to anyone out there, tweet me or PM me to meet up.

  2. What a difference a day makes. On 4-14 I was in talks with NarcoCop and tedSTRETCH preparing to start a micro stable. I was reviewing some applicants HHs and taking notes, planning on starting one or two that sunday, the 17th. Then on 4-15 Black Friday happened. Around noon I read on P5s that FTP's and PS's domains were seized by the DOJ. I was sort of alarmed but didn't think too much of it as I was able to log on and sit at a real money table and when I opened the websites they opened fine.

I went over to my parents' house to visit with them and pick something up, and on the way out i get a call from NarcoCop around 3pm asking me if I saw what happened. I thought he just meant the domain seizure etc, but he said PS is shut down. I got home and read up about what was going on and was shocked. One day I was looking forward to start coaching/backing and looking forward to moving to Vegas for 2 months for the WSOP, then the next day I'm reevaluating everything trying to see if any of my plans are still sustainable.

That weekend wasn't too bad, I hadn't planned on playing Friday or Saturday anyway, as I went to a White Sox game Friday night with my girlfriend and friends, then Saturday had a family party. But missing the Sunday grind is when it all sunk in. So I began reevaluating my short and long term plans.

First of all, long term. Poker was never a permanent solution for me, and I had planned returning to school to get my MBA. I wasn't planning on going until Spring 2012, however now am planning on going this Fall. I have a scholarship that will cover all expenses for at least a couple semesters, however will probably need to get a part time job for an income. It's not ideal working and going to school but it will have to do.

Short term goals are a bit different. Having a little bit of money locked up sucks, and the sites blocking online transfers also hinders my plans to sell action for my WSOP package. I am still going out to vegas, but now planning oncutting my trip in half. Staying for around a month instead, but still looking for a play to stay and work out some details. I will have to sell pieces for cash either here or in Vegas. I still have confidence I will be able to sell the amount I need/want but hoping to be able to post my package online soon. First I need to book my housing and know for sure when I'll be out there.

All in all the online thing is a big inconvenience short term, but long term it is probably a plus. Online poker not being available will get me back on track of pursuing my masters and a full time career after that. Hopefully by the time I advance in my education and hopefuly find a full time position, online poker will be back and regulated in the U.S., giving me a supplement to my income.

It's been fun, but I guess it's time for real life.

  3. I haven't won a tournament since february 21st. Hopefully changing that this week. Gonna try putting in a bunch of volume during FTP doubles week to get back on track.
