  1. Well ill admit that the title is a bit dramatic, but whats the point of having a goal if its not high right? For those of you that ive never spoken to or do not know who I am, my name is PJ Foti and I am from Upstate, NY. I have been playing poker for several years now, and have decided that this is something I want to pursue for the long term as a main source of income. This past Sunday however, as I was grinding away on my MTT trail, I realized how much saturation their is in NL Hold Em. I did not play a tourny with less than 1k people, and most had on average of about 3k, with the largest being the quarter million at 27k. Now this is obviously nothing new to me, as I have been playing holdem donkaments for a while, but what I finally realized was that I need to start branching out to other forms of poker.

I began this process a few weeks ago after I bought and read Jeff Hwang's PLO book. Im currently getting crushed in .25/.50 PLO, but I just ordered his second book and hope I can make some progress in the future.

In addition to PLO I began to read about and learn some of the the other games such as Razz, 2-7 TD, and the H/L variations of stud and omaha. After observing some of the (7 and 8 game) cash game tables running on stars and tilt i realized that my goal for the next 12 months is going to be to try and become the best micro-mid stakes mixed game player that I can be (obviously the universe as well).

This journey has just as much to do with trying to become a supernova elite as it does a top tier mixed game player as well. I recently began getting into poker again after a long hiatus from the game, and before I quit I was playing only on Tilt. Now however I am playing on both stars and tilt and have quickly realized how much better the vip program is on stars so its something that I am going to be actively working towards. Im currently 90k vpp's away from earning supernova for the 2010 calendar year, so it would seem rather unlikely that I will achieve that merit before the year end's, although I wont completely count it out. Regardless however, my goal come Jan 1, 2011 will be to begin playing as much poker as humanely possible in order to try and earn supernova elite, and I think mixed games are my ticket.

So now that everything in terms of goals is clear, my plan of action is as follows.

    - Watch as many mixed game videos on deuces cracked as I can.
    - Read super system 2, advanced PLO by hwang, harrington on cash games, omaha hi-lo by mike cappelletti

I actually ordered winning tournaments 1 hand at a time (apestyles, rizen etc. ) vol 1+2 and kill everyone w/ elky which should be here tomorrow, and because I am involved in the micro team competition this week, I do plan on reading those this week and focusing on bringing some points to my team, but the long term goal will be to be the mixed game master.

BTW, I figure that by keeping this blog I will be able to stay motivated along this process, and I suppose its possible that maybe 1 person is actually interested in reading along.

    So long for today!

    ~Fotes
