259 Only 3 weeks
It's only been 3 weeks since I did any blogging, meh. I was in Durant in April and had a less than amazing 0-12 MTT series and about break-even at cash. Hey, cant win them all, but it was a disappointing series. Nevertheless I came back to Tulsa planning to take a couple days off then get back to grinding, but I got a nasty head cold and was completely out of it for two weeks. I don't get sick ...

130 May Summary
I'm not good at blogging here anymore. I had my worst month ever this May. As a matter of fact, May and Aprils losses have erased my entire profit from Jan/Feb/March. Sick to say after 5 months of the year I have broken even. FTOPS/SCOOP were very bad to me as were most MTTs. The times I FT'ed I'd get 7th,8th,9th and wasn't getting top 3 finishes. I guess I've been lucky to never run really bad. ...

120 People Are The Problem
I have to keep music on or I'll probably go insane right now. I do not know if I am right about anything, but I enjoy writing. It seems to go much faster when I write about something I actually think about, something I can actually pick my teeth with. I read a book once describing a central problem with consistent growth in humans. We harness the Earth for natural resources. We can only ...

91 Players Club (Ventura CA) Log
I haven't blogged in a while because I haven't been on the road since Feb. But I am in Oxnard, CA for a couple weeks on business. My primary objective this trip is golf. I brought my clubs and have played a couple rounds. I also found out about the Ventura Player's Club in a local rag and thought it would be a good alternative to driving 1.5 hours to Hollywood Park. It's a small, but fairly nice ...

70 May Recap
I put in some good volume (by my standards) in May and had a pretty solid month. Even though it started out like complete shit it rapidly turned around (as is the nature of MTTs). I have a specific May graph to post but I'm having difficulties with the new P5s. As soon as I figure it out I'll update w/ graphs I played 304 MTTs in May with a total profit of $6,323.36 Average buyin = ...

66 Grinding again
So I deposited $100 in December to start off 2011 with that BR. If you happened to read my last post, I popped 2 micro FT's and got my roll up to a decent amount to play $50NL full ring, but I don't have the time to grind MTTs like I used to since I have the new job. I've been dedicating a lot of time to grinding full-table ring $50NL and have had decent success over the past 2 weeks. I also ...

Assuming it has been almost two months since my last entry; And a ton of things have taken place since then! For a while i have been mentally holding myself back from shipping a mtt, that was tracked by the pocketfives database. 47 Bought my ticket to Macau
Just bought my return ticket for the APPT week. I am leaving one day later than originally planned, the ticket was half the price direct to Macau. So this will leave me one day less to try to qualify. I'll basically have the opportunity to play 3 HK$4200 satties before day 1c plus maybe a 4k side event. I'll probably play a lot of cash games the 1st 2 days to see how it goes and if I can ...

33 LIVE SCORE, 10.7K at APPT Sydney
I've never had a 5-figure score until a week ago, when I played the initial tournament at the APPT Sydney. They started the series off with a 1K Deepstack Event with a starting field of 268, split into two "Day 1s". I played the second one, got off to a great start when I 4-bet for one-third of my stack preflop holding AA, the other guy called (lol) and couldn't get away from ...

(This is a crosspost from my blog, which you can find at /) And just like that, the downswing is over. In my latest blog post I wrote about how I felt my months long downswing would soon be over. And oh boy was I right! The very next day I shipped the $30 Late Night at PKR for $617 which is a very nice result for my bankroll and something that definitely ends the downswing - still even though ...

23 Marching forward
I wish I had a lot to say about my poker game in March but frankly I didn't play that much. I was busy with school for most of the month, and although I did have a week off for spring break, I think i only played three of the 10 days i had off. Sharkscope had me up $1345 in March but I definitely finished up a few hundred dollars more since I sold action for three packages that I bricked on. ...

22 How well do you play when you 1st sit down?
I recently was thinking to myself "I wonder if the 1st tournament I sit down and play shows any better or worse results'" I thought I might play tighter, possibly more distracted due to getting things setup, as well as being busy checking emails and working on other work. However, I also thought my mind is fresh and less prone to tilting. So I decided to give it more looking into. Since ...

Cashed out most of my bankroll a while back, partly because it was before Christmas and partly because of some of the posibilities that the UIGEA stuff was back in focus. I haven't blogged in awhile so I guess I should give an update. I have still been going strong online, however I have changed my preference a bit as far as what games I am playing. 21 Omaha Challenge ($800 to $5,000)
For the record, I cringe everytime I see a challenge thread or blog post. Its not that they are overdone or boring, its that they are unrealistic. 21 Update / Vegas in T Minus 10 days
A lot can happen in a month, and many things can wreak havoc on attempts to go to Las Vegas for 10 days, and drop 2K while there. I took my car into the shop planning on spending about $600 in repairs and maintenance in preparation for my trip. In the end I spent $1500, and have to spend another $1000 to get everything else fixed. At least the oil change was free, lol. Earlier this month I ...

was gaining traction in 8-game 0.5/1 but then took a shot at 1/2 and got smothered. insane rivers on PLO that i should fold but call out of frustration, losing in 2-7 not hitting when they do or draw 2 OOP guys hitting nuts or #2 on 1st draw etc. Told myself i'd play tight but frustration setting in losing big hands or being scooped in split games by the river. 20 WSOP 2010 - Recap
So I didn't blog as much as I would have liked. But, what can I say, vegas is a crazy town. It tends to suck you in, alter your plans, and leave you in general disarray. Day1 went ok at best for me. 19 Good Game online poker...
The dream of all serious poker players is to play in the World Series Of Poker. It has been my dream since I was a freshman in college and saw Moneymaker win the main event. It all started with a $5 game in the kitchen of my dorm 7 years ago, now in about a week I will be playing my first ever WSOP ...

19 I can't believe how difficult it is having an infant!
So my son is now 2 weeks old. I thought having an infant would be fairly tough but I figured since my wife would be home and not working she'd primarily be taking care of the kids. I also never realized how ...

16 I'm going to win the $10k GTD Super Stack on FTP today
I accidentally started writing about this under the "poker discussion" thread. Whoops. So far I've had to make pretty not-fun lay downs. Being a macho man is fun. Just ask Michael Mann. This is the guy who made Miami Vice (as TV series and movie), Thief, Last of the Mohicans, Heat, Ali, Collateral and now Public Enemies, which is a remake of Heat in everything but name. I think its important in life to take time to reflect on our past. If you really think about it, most things we learn come from mistakes that have already happened. Not many people have even heard of Varna, Bulgaria, let alone know where to locate it on a map. Varna is the sea capitol of Bulgaria set on the Black Sea and if you ever have a chance to go there, it's truly an amazing place. The Golden Sands resort is located right on the beach and filled with plenty of things to do. On the beach side of the road, restaurants and bars line the sand along ...

12 ANZPT Perth, Sunday Majors, WSOP
It's been a while since my last post, and since then I've been a busy boy. I busted out of the ANZPT Perth Main Event in the last 8 hands of day 1 when I flopped bottom set on a TJ5 flop and wound up getting about 60% of my stack in the middle vs. an open-ender that got there on the turn. I was the one doing the raising and I think that the line I took in that hand was the most ...

It has been a very rough 2010 for me, but in the past two and a half weeks I feel like I have really upped my game and am playing my best poker in a long time. So when I started to build my stack in the 50/50 tonight, I felt like it was a long time coming for me to make a deep run in a mid-stakes tournament. I had my most improbable tournament win last night on FTP. I was playing a $8.80 tournament (the ones limited to 180 people) and I had a very healthy stack of around 12k with less then 40 people left. Feeling good I got involved with a guy 2 to my right with a similar sized stack. If I could still copy and past hands from FTP I would post it here but needless to say I ended up making what I ...

Titling this blog entry "2013 WSOP" is a bit misleading, because I don't plan to play any WSOP events this summer. I have a full schedule of about 12-14 Venetian Deepstack events.
