  1. So it's been I think like two months since my last post. Lots has happened obv, and I have been continuing my progression to build that roll. I had a major hiccup along the way, which led to not wanting to post, but alas I must post about it anyway. I was on a roll, worked my balance up to $440, and then I went on a tiltfest. I lost some sng's I had moved up to $10-12, still playing $5 MTT's and lower. I lost about 6 in a row, and wanted to make it back. So I went to old faithful, 200NL. I short stacked a couple buyins, and quickly lost those. Then I decided that 3-6 Stud8 was my best bet. I knew the lineup, and felt I would get some action. I did, and the suckouts kept coming. Long story short, when I had $108 left, a light bulb went off, and I started to freak out. No matter what, I could not go felt. I had worked so hard to build it, and I was destroying it piece by piece. So I decided to make one last shot. I would play in one more sng, and somehow justified a $55+5 would be the best bet. If I won I would only be stuck $100 for the day, and if I lost I still had $50 to rebuild. And I accepted that fact. I ended up getting 3rd for $99, and shut off my computer.
I don't remember if I took a few days off or not, but when I went back to play, it was different. As it is somewhat difficult to get funds online right now, I've been transferring small amounts here and there to friends, but even with that, my balance has grown back to 323.27. I am about to begin my session for the evening, so that balance will need to be updated soon.
I am currently operating on the goal of $1000 by the end of 2009. I hope to achieve the goal before then, and even with my current cold streak in MTT's, the cash games are proving to be quite profitable as of late. I am controlling my aggression a lot more, and leaving tables before I get stuck too much. As far as win rates go I had my best session in .25/.50 Stud8 this morning. I played 87 hands, and was winner 37 big bets. Getting hit by the deck always helps, but this was just gross.

  2. Well, I ended up lying to myself. I wanted to get more conservative with my roll management, and after 3 days of playing too high for my roll, I am quite surprised to still have a balance. I was playing 3-6 Stud-8 (on a 70 dollar roll), and ended up getting half of a $180 pot. Quads and a boat were going at it, and I was just praying with my 8-7 low. Whew. So I played in a $11 Stud-8 tourney last night, got 5th out of 53, so I am up to $148.03 currently. I am going to be playing the Mini-FTOPS satty's and will try and play in as many of the events as possible. I've got a few weeks to grind my roll higher, so we'll see how it goes. With the swings from the past few days, I am playing lower stakes finally. Considering I am officially bankrolled for .25/.50 stakes, I'll be playing at the Stud tables, and $5-6 SNG's. I doubt I have many readers, but if you do end up reading this, and you find me at anything higher than .25/.50 Stud-8 anytime from today til 8/26, pm me with the date and time, and I will send you $10. I am mainly playing on FTP and UB right now. UB it'll be kinda hard to find me playing higher stakes, I only have 20 bucks on there right now. But on with the banroll management. If I don't learn this discipline, I can't go back to playing pro. Period.

  3. Like many poker players, I have gone busto. It's happened a few too many times actually. I'd easily say that the majority of the times I have gone bust online, it's because of playing too high, playing too long of a session, chasing some kind of bonus, or just plain gambling.
Well after going bust well over a month ago, I decided not to redeposit. The hope is to never redeposit again. I decided to just play FTP SNG satellites, which ended up working out quite well. In about two weeks, I made roughly 30K in FTP's. I even am still considering just playing the 1200FTP Double Deuce satellites for the rest of the year, by my stats it'll only take a year for me to get the Mini Cooper if I up my volume. But alas, I got real money online again.
Through satellites, I won two $26 tokens, which I used a few days ago. I played in the 17K Guar, hoping for a big payday, only to bust 30 min in. Then I decided a smaller field might be better. So the Turbo Knockout 90-man SNG was registering, so I signed up. I was able to take out 3 opponents for 4 bucks a pop, and ended up not cashing. But I got 12 bucks in my account. My starting balance for this experiment was 12.28 (I had .28 left in my account, so technically I didn't go bust). I played two tables of .25/50 Stud8 and made 5 bucks at each table. Up to 23 bucks. I then entered in a $11 Stud8 SNG, and eager to try FullTilt's new chopping software, I chopped it heads up. Chips were even, and we both had less than 10 big bets each. So suddenly I have 44 bucks.
Well, long story short, I am currently at 108.78 after a few days of grinding, and for the first time in what seems like forever, I am doing well at online poker. Now while currently I am playing ultra-aggressive bankroll management, now that I have hit 3 digits, I will be slowing down, and establishing some sort of weekly regimen. I am confident that this foray back into online poker will be successful. I hope to give updates of my successes and failures over the coming weeks. No major goals or landmarks yet, just no going bust...
