  1. So I didn't blog as much as I would have liked. But, what can I say, vegas is a crazy town. It tends to suck you in, alter your plans, and leave you in general disarray.

Day1 went ok at best for me. I had a tough table draw, a couple of high stakes cash players, lots of internet regs, and just one old fish. level one was crazy, everyone was tring to feel each other out. There was lots of 3 and 4 betting preflop. We had many 5 handed flops. Just not at all what I was expecting. Then in level 2, EVERYONE shut down. It was like night and day. The old fish managed to river 4 of us 4 hands in a row to go from 30k to 88k. mine was the 4th hand. He opened from the Co and I 3bet 3x from the BB with KK. XX4 flop. I lead 2/3 pot, he calls. turn is another brick. I lead again, he calls. river is a 4. I lead and he minreraises me. I reluctantly pay and he tables 64o for two pair. "This guy, this @#$%ing guy!" I exclaim. So gross. Within the next orbit he spews off all 88k, all to the player to my left who basically won the lottery. Every player at the table that day finished with <30k (the starting stack) he finished with 100k+.

day2 I was card dead. I couldn't find two cards within 7 of each other. It was disgusting. Especially since the player two to my left was playing a 35/30 game (playing 35% of hands, raising 30% of hands). Its a really exploitable spot. If I had about three times my stack I could have 3bet him light whenever I was in position, but as it was, I needed to have atleast a marginal hand since often times I would be comitting myself to the hand by 3betting.

I finally got it in on the very last hand before dinner-break. An aggro French player opened to 2.5x from MP. It folded to me in the BB and I looked down at 99. I casually pushed my last 19 BB's in the pot. He asked for a count and counted off his own stack before making the call with 1010. Tens held and I reported to the rail.

Overall I had a great experience. I intend to write an article for P5's focusing more on my experience as a first time WSOP participant, but who knows if that'll happen. (I'm pretty lazy) Anyway, thanks for reading!

  2. I apologies for not blogging the last couple days, but I said when I started that it would be hard because things could get crazy, and I was right. Two nights ago I was up until 5 and last night the sun was fully up by the time I got to bed.

I've been running into lots of players that I have only known online before, which is pretty sweet. It's so refreshing to hang out with and talk to a group of people who share the same career/lifestyle as me. It really makes me wish I lived here full-time. Las vegas is such an amazing city, so different than anywhere else in the world. It feels like 2 am on a Friday night 24/7.

Yesterday I spent most of the day at the Rio. I met up with a couple of Bodonks in the hospitality suite, hebs and STRAIGHTNUTZ. We watched some of the WSOP, and otherwise just spent time wandering around taking it all in.

We saw a lot of live pros, which was pretty cool. Jesus Ferguson, Mike Caro, Doyle Brunson, Joe Sebok, to name a few. I ran into Fred Bevill, announcer for the HPT, and we sweated Todd Anderson, the owner, for a while. After his KK got cracked we decided to move on since obv we are bad luck. Also watched Eric Seidel and Mike Mattasow at the feature tables. It's not very exciting to watch when you can't see hole cards. Heck, even when you can, I don't think it's very exciting to watch.

Tomorrow is the big day. It's day 1c and I'll finally be playing the Main Event. The guys from the house who played yesterday all did reasonably well, which gives me some extra confidence. But, I'm finally getting just a little nervous about playing, which, up until now, was the only thing I wasn't nervous about. Mike warned me that I probably would have trouble sleeping the night before, we'll see. I'm planning on going to bed sometime between 10 and 2. I'd like ~8 hours of sleep, but I don't want to wake up too early since I'll still be at the tables at almost midnight tomorrow.

That's all for now. Wish me luck!

  3. I got in late last night, must have been almost AM. First my flight was delayed, then Reed took five wrong turns on the way to the airport to pick me up. To make matters worse, my cell phone died so I didn't know why he was late, or where he was.

Met everyone staying here, they're all cool. We stayed up until AM shootin' the shit. I didn't realize it was so late, thought it was maybe 2:30. So, in bed at 4, woke up at 9. I usually sleep MUCH later, especially after staying up so late, but I woke up and just couldn't fall back asleep.

A couple of the house-mates are playing in a $1k today. I need to find a pair of dress shoes (forgot to pack my Clarks) for the Bodog party at Pure. Other than that I am prolly gonna swing through and pick up my Bodog gear, get some lunch/dinner and get ready for some bowling at the P5's party tonight.

That's all for now. I'll post again later tonight or maybe tomorrow morning.
