  1. Finally won a MTT on Bodog after coming back on there in October of last year. The $200 buy in $5k guarantee and it feels pretty good. I just turned off the TV and focused and it worked!

Since my last blog I've definitey taken my game more serious and it has shown. Cashes on multiple sites on a wide range of buyins. My biggest hurdle is learning to NEVER play cash games online. I lose everytime. So I've decided I am a much better tournament player than a cash player.

Bodog poker has some decent tourneys nightly that are fairly easy to cash in. If you haven't played there definitely take a shot at it. You'll find you will be playing with the same people almost nightly and I think that helps overall.

Done with the gloating and off to win the next MTT.

  2. I had emptied my bankroll on Full Tilt recently and had $.72 left. Since I have renewed my passion for poker I decided to not deposit and see how far I can go with this $.72.

I started by playing a .01/.02 table and buying in for a small amount. I got enough to play in a $1.20 heads up game and I won. I then played in a few .01/.02 full ring games and did ok. Then I over played that $4.00 bankroll I built. So back down I went.

I then decided to play a $3.30 MTT which was a KO tourney. I placed 21st out of 573 players. Bankroll now at $11.12. I felt great about it so I played a few more tourneys and lost a little and been back and forth ever since. Today resting at $12.93 after playing 8 and 6 tables at .01/02 NL, 6 players.

The lesson for me is very important because for years I've just deposited more money when I bust like that. That's what I've always done and I end up playing outside my bankroll because it is easy to just deposit more money.

I don't and have never played hi stakes online or live but if I can keep to this bankroll management long enough, I will be. The cards are easy to play, it's the money aspect that is the toughest. At least for me.

  3. For years I've managed to not take this game I love very seriously. I've played drunk at casinos, destroyed all table image I had by being an ass, lost all profits by playing outside my bankroll, built up great bankrolls online and playing in games I had no business playing in just to see my roll go to zero. I've done all the things a degenerate gambler would do just because I didn't care. I didn't care if I won or lost, until the next day that is.

The thing is, I am a good player. I read people and cards very well (live and online) and usually get my money in with the best hand. That is why today I mark the begininng of a new chapter in my poker game.

No longer will I play outside my bankroll. No longer will I donk away chips trying to bluff. No longer will I drink while I play. No longer will I do the things that have kept me from doing this for a living.

These are things that have kept me from being a great player. So today I will take my play seriously, truly for the first time. I am starting from scratch, literally.
