  1. So a quick recap, I was awarded a $55 round two stake on PTP. The instructions are to play 100 games at the 1.10 45 man's, 2.20 90 man and mtt's at 2.20 and lower. After 49 games I was up roughly $50 in profit.

Last night I went over the 50 game mark and game #50 was the 2.20 5k guarantee that started at 10:00 PM CST. There were 2,573 runners and I played until 5:30 am CST. I entered the FT 5 of 9 but quickly took first when my AK held over AQ. From that point on I steamrolled the competition and took it down for $815.02.

I'm really excited about my game of late. My stats look great and I'm making a lot more good decisions than poor ones. So why am I making this blog? My backer is quite pleased and wants to close out the current stake and move on to round 3. Round 3 would consist of a a stake of $110 and the games would be at the 2.20 and 4.40 levels, his % stays the same @ 55%. I feel good about the stake and I'm thinking about accepting but someone else now wants a piece.

I made a friend when playing at AP and we keep in touch all the time on IM. We watch each others play and discuss hands. Nothing fishy. He is a bit older and wants to invest some. He wants to start off with a smallish $55 stake on AP with the possibility of more. However, he only wants 40%. Obviously, this is much better for me and I also wouldn't have to pay PTP their rake. I'm just not sure about playing at AP again, as my # on stars are far superior. Plus building a solid rep on PTP is a smart long term decision. Any Advice?

  2. I know PTP has it's detractors but I've had no issues with the site or stakers to date. I just completed a 100 game stake at the .25 level. It took me a little over a month to complete and I turned the 5.55 into $21.

That got me an invite to a second level stake. I was really shocked to see a $5.55 blossom into a $55.00 stake. Again I am to run 100 games or until I go bust before the stake ends. The parameters are to play 1.10 45 and 90 sngs and 2.20 90 man or 2.20 and under mtts. This should take me around a month to complete since I can't play during the weekdays and my evenings and weekends are filled with watching my daughter. I can typically play 2-4 games a night between the hours of 9:30 pm to 1 am.

I am very excited about this stake because for starters, it keeps me very disciplined with my bankroll management. Bankroll management has been an issue for me, so the guidelines in place with stakes seem to keep me in line. The stake also has me keeping a log of what I am playing and gets me to review my swing hands. Lastly, if i continue to profit and money for my backer; the stakes and buy-ins will increase, so that eventually I could build a proper roll and potentially make some substantial side income.

For now, I'm just grateful to have the opportunity to play, have fun and improve my game. I have problems keeping up with a blog and I have noticed that I typically don't write while going through a downswing. Hopefully, I can minimize the downswings, keep my positive attitude up, play well and update this blog.

    GL.

  3. I have never been sucessful at playing with correct bankroll management. That's always been my story but i'm working at it. Recently, I challenged myself to build a roll starting with 5 bucks. I figured the smartest way was to play the zero rake .25 45 and 90 man games on stars. My plan was to grind 100 of these games and reevaluate or go bust. I just finished game # 96 and I've done pretty well. My experiment roll is now at $20.00 but now i have to figure out whats next. I think I can sustain my roi at this level since obviously the play on .25 is mostly terrible. Should I play another 100 games at the .25 level? When will I know that I have "mastered" that level? Is this grind even worth it?
