1. i have put in 3 sessions since my last blog. my last three sessions were +120 (7hrs), +223 (1.5hrs) and +374 (2hrs). the second session was 5/5 NL whereas my normal game is 1/2NL. my focus has been good overall but i did make a few mistakes.

i played in a freeroll event on wednesday. there were 400 runners with the top 3 receiving a $6,300 ticket to APPY Sydney in December. I ran pretty good and came 20th. for the majority of the event the average stack was 5-10BBs so it was pretty well push-fold almost from the beginning. my last hand i shoved ATo for 10BBs when I was sitting two behind the button. got called by AK and lost.

online poker roll continues to drift sideways and most recently going down a little. i havent been playing much online because i suck and have been enjoying live more.

it was my last day at work today so full time poker begins next monday. i will be aiming for 7 hour sessions in the beginning and will just play one or two hours a day of online. i am really bad at focusing on the computer and tilt online much more easily. i think the money seems less real to me. also, i will try to play at the 5/5 NL once or twice a week.

total hours 55.5, +$1052

2. Since my last blog I have played three sessions. I was -$13 over four hours then +$12 over four hours and then +$145 over two hours. Obviously this is hardy impressive but I am actually very happy with the way I played. The session before my last blog was horrendous and I really wanted to get over that quickly and start playing better. Looking back at my results over the last four years I am normally up $300 or more or down $300 or more when I play. In other words I go fine when I get playable hands but I tend to spew chips when I get trash all night. I am really happy to just put in some breakeven days meaning that I was able to stay focused even though I wasn’t getting cards.

For my last three sessions (ten hours) I could barely say I was involved in one meaningful hand but I managed to limit my losses by playing tight and folding, folding, folding.

I am finishing up work here on Friday and then I start poker full time next Monday. Looking forward to it J

3. Ahhhh, confession time. I lost $394 on Sunday. I played bad, really bad, monkey spew bad.

I am happy that I have somewhere to confess. Hopefully I will learn from my mistakes and not make them again.

Lesson #1: focus at the tables, don’t tilt, if I am playing badly get up and leave.
Lesson #2: NEVER put on a squeeze play at 1/2NL live.

Tbh, I already know both these things but they just need (more) reinforcing. I would really like to be able to look back in a months time and say “I controlled my tilt last month” and “I did not attempt one squeeze play at 1/2 NL”. Honestly, if I can do those two things alone I will win. 1/2NL live at star city is the biggest joke of a poker game that exists. I could probably win by folding every single hand and just jamming AA and KK.

When I start full time I think I will be mixing up live and online play. As I said in my last post I can grind out a good hourly rate playing live but I have struggled to make decent money online. Basically this is because online is tougher and honestly I need to get better. I have been running hot at the $11 HUSNGs on FT the last few days. I think they will become part of my daily routine. Maybe I will do online from 9-11, get lunch or w/e and then play at the casino in the afternoon (its only 15 minutes drive).

Two weeks of work left til I begin full time…

Summary stats for live play: +327 over 30 hours
