$18K in 8 Months Week 1

By dtools22 - Oct 05 2009, 10:33 PM

Week one of my challenge went pretty smoothly, although my sleep schedule is a little bit effed up as a result.  Never the less, if I want to be a pro this is what I have to do.  I've been trying to mix in as much MTT grinding as I possibly can to go along side my cash game play.  MTTs as I have said before are going to supplement my cash game income, hopefully to the tune of a few big scores, and will make my job much easier to reach the $18K mark.  I'm looking forward to pushing myself over the next few weeks.

I'll start with the ugly news to get that out of the way.  I only managed to get two sessions of cash game play in on UB and they were less than great:

(As a refresher I'm playing $25NL FR on UB for my cash game sessions)

Session one -> 3 hours of play, -$3.86 on the session.

Session two -> 2.5 hours of play, -$86.07 on the session.

I still managed to win about 8 buy ins during the month of September, but I took a hit to end the month off with my first losing week overall since moving my money over to UB.  For the most part I took a bunch of coolers, including a big hand that was flush over flush on the flop in a limped pot good for about $74 bucks.  That pot alone would have dramatically changed the nature of my session.  All in all, just have to take nights like that in stride and move on.

MTTs went just a little bit better for me this week despite some major grossness:

Tuesday -> $79.25 in buy ins, $21.76 on the session

Wednesday -> $50.55 in buy ins, $107.88 on the session

Thursday -> $72.55 in buy ins, $1427.05 on the session

Friday -> $80.55 in buy ins, -$80.55 on the session

Sunday -> $67.25 in buy ins, -$67.25 on the session

Tuesday was pretty cool with a FT in the $5.50PLO8.  What made it even better was a buddy of mine also made the FT that night, busting in 7th, one before me in 6th.  Wednesday was a gross night.  I had deep runs going in the Daily Double A and B.  Short stacked in the A I shoved ATo from the Hijack only to have the CO iso shove ATs.  The third spade on the river did me in in 66th.  Then in a completely disgusting fashion I foun myself in a three way all in with KK, vs the open shove of 99, and an OVERCALL from 44.  After the turn the board was 8675 with three spades, river came a 4th spade and the 44 shipped it KOing both of us and finishing off my day in 14th.  Thursday I was able to rebound and ship the $5K Guaranteed PLO on FTP for just under $1500 bucks so all in all, not a bad week at the office.

Final totals at the end of the week:

Cash Game BR: $700.52

MTT BR: $2,229.99

Total BR: $2,930.51

So far things are going smoothly.  Hopefully the next few weeks will yeild some better cash game results coupled with more consistancy from my MTT grind.  Helps to get off on the right foot.
