$18K in 8 Months Week 2

By dtools22 - Oct 12 2009, 01:35 PM

This week was a great week for me.  I got my movie into a film festival and took down both the "Funniest Flick" and "Best Feature" at the Silk City Flick Fest in Manchester, CT.  I booked my tickets and room for the first couple of events at the WPF that I wanted to play in as well.  Everything went smoothly last week except on the all important virtual felt.

It stands right now on October 12 and I have yet to fire up any cash game action during this month.  Part of that does stem from being busy during the first two weeks of the month but another side of the argument is that I did get a little complacen since winning the $5K PLO the week before on FTP.  Normally I do take a few days off after a big score.  This gets me focused again, excited to play more poker, and let's me power down a little bit after the big win.  For whatever reason this time around I found myself extending that laziness into another full week which is not something I can really afford at this juncture.  Time is not on my side and I do need to get my ass into gear.  This week and next will be a great opportunity to put in some serious hours and some major volume with me schedule starting to calm down just a bit.  I need to start working again and getting myself back into poker form.

MTTs this week were mediocre

Monday -> $93.55 in buy ins, -$89.55 on the session

Tuesday -> $87.55 in buy ins, $10.05 on the session

Wednesday -> $85.55 in buy ins, -$44.08 on the session

Variance caught up with me after my $1500 score.  Following that win I went 0/31 over the next few sessions I played.  I have a lot of just ugly spots, tough breaks, and did in fact mix in some poor play as well.  I did manage to break the trend on Tuesday with a FT in the $2.25 Cubed good for just under $100 and put myslef in the black on the day.  With the festival I wasn't really able to get much action in and ended up finishing the week on a losing note.

Final totals at the end of the week:

Cash Game BR: $700.52, $0.00 change

MTT BR: $1,607.63, -$622.36 change

Total BR: $2,308.15

The sudden chunk missing from my MTT BR is going towards my buy ins at the WPFs in a couple of weeks.  I figure $1600+ is still more than enough to play at my current stakes.  I'll be grinding some major hours later this week for cash game play as well.  Overall I'm still feeling very positive about my BR growth to this point.
