Looking down the line a little bit there are some great tournaments coming up that I am very excited about. In the online world with the close of FTOPS XXXVVVIIQ the miniature version for lower stakes guys like myself is just on the horizon. Back down at Foxwoods, the next Megastack series is going down starting December 15th. Both of these series are events I am personally looking forward to playing in very much and hopefully will be good opportunities to add some more notches to the belt.
The last time the MiniFTOPS came around I actually managed to have a profitable series. Playing in 4 events I was able to win an amazing $.20. While it was nice to be in the black I felt like the events I played in and did well in should have gone a bit better. I am particularly disappointed with myself for my performance in the $55 HORSE last time around. I really had a great chance to make a deep run but the Holdem round, which normally is my best and most profitable round, killed me in a number of spots. I managed to get just above a mincash but was very disappointed overall because I had a chance to crack at least the top 100 (close to 200 got paid if I remember correctly) with the stack I had when the bubble broke.
This time around the schedule has been mixed up a bit. The earlier events are not my stronger events unlike in series past. For the first 5 events, the only one that jumps out at me as something I would be interested in playing would be the $22 Event 2 7-game 6max. After that Events 8, 10, and 11, which are the $24 KO 6max, the $33 NLHE, and the $22 PLO/8 respectively all jump out as events I'd like to play in. Over the 24 event series just glancing over the schedule it looks like there are maybe as many as 10 different events I would really like to try my hand in. I'm not sure what my class schedule will be like but I'll definitely try to make it work. The full schedule can be found here http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/mini-full-tilt-online-poker-series/schedule
Down at Foxwoods on the 15th of December starts the next Megastack series. There are 3 events in this iteration of the series starting with the $340 NLHE eventwith $75K guaranteed. In August this event managed to attract nearly 1100 people. This time around the guaranteed prizepool is lower but I am still expecting a solid sized field to show up and play. First prize managed to balloon to around $70K which ended up getting chopped up 4 handed. That event is one I will for certain try to enter. The other two events are a $560 buy in and a $1650 buy in respectively. I don't think I would play in either of these unless I made the FT of the $340 event. Either way I plan on booking my room and staying out there for a few days to compete. With any luck I'll have a bit more cash just in time to buy gifts this Christmas. Aside from the daily grind, this is how I plan to end my 2009 year. It is a year that saw me finally build a real poker bankroll and hopefully I can end it with yet another big splash. Even if I blank out of these next 5 or so weeks, I am proud of my performance here in 2009 and I look forward to what 2010 has to offer.
