Good for you man! Good to hear an uplifting story such as yours. I'm going on my fifth year on here as well. When I first joined I was a little lost in life, but since then I graduated college, binked a couple decent tourney scores along the way, and a little over a year ago moved to Austria to marry the girl of my dreams.
I've always wanted to make the transition from tourneys to cash, but just couldn't find the motivation/discipline to do so succesfully. Any advice on making it work? Training sites you would recommend? Thanks, and if you ever roll through Vienna let me know and I'll buy you a beer. -
Wacky goodness for breakfast and all day long, meh at just for dinner :)
I'm probably a bit older than you, will be 38 in May. I grew up playing cash games, so transitioning back wasn't really a problem. Even the casinos in AC, the money was to be made playing cash games when going to the casinos. I didn't use any training sites, but have a few people I run things through at times and watch play at other times. Having stop losses is definitely a key, at least for me. I don't play NLHE cash except for the occasional rush game or when part of a mixed game cycle. If you play other games in tourneys, you can probably transition to those games in cash with some practice.Originally Posted by FI5HMAN

I was almost in Austria in January on the way to Dubai, but changed the flight to go through Ukraine (lol @ that airport). We would have spent a night in Austria before moving on. Austria is one of the few countries I haven't been to, and its on my list of places to go. Is it safe to assume you are an American that moved to Austria? -
I started with sit and goes, then transitioned to mtts. But from early on my favorite tourneys to play have been stud hi/lo and mixed game, so maybe it's possible!
You have to come through Austria sometime; beautiful country, great people, great food, etc. If you ever plan a trip shoot me a pm and I can recommend a few spots.
And yes, I'm from California. -
One of my good friends in Lithuania is from Austria. Good luck with life in Austria and on the felts! :)

Congrats wacky! Been a long time coming to hit that milestone and be where you are in life and on the felts. Congrats on all the personal stuff with the wife. I know it is an amazing feeling finding the one you can live with for the rest of your life. Bringing you on as a mod has turned into one of the best decisions that dhub and team could have done. You have made this site, along with the other mods, a place to come talk poker, life, or anything in-between. Keep up the awesome job on the felts, life and on the boards!
Any babies coming soon?
Are you looking to move back to the States?
What is your greatest poker accomplishment?
Has the wifey ever pressured you into a "real" job? -
1) We are trying, probably will be soon ;)

2) Might move back to the states, will probably be tough to find the kind of work I do here, so an English speaking country is in the cards at some point, just not sure when
3) Hard to say, back when I was first starting in 2001 online, games were easier, so building a roll was not an issue. Its hard to attribute a good cash day to anything spectular, and have had some good runs in tourneys at times when I do dabble. I think my biggest wins are on partypoker in general, but many moons ago.
4) Wife understands my lifestyle, and is supportive, but as we try to start to have a family, I think we will both pressure me to have a guar income rather than live the easy life. :)
Also, thank you for your help when I was first becoming a mod here. You showed me the way around and were patient with my countless questions. :) <3 -
Thanks Phatcat, best of luck to you as well. :)

Edited By: wackyJaxon Apr 6th, 2011 at 12:51 AMThanks Dunk, one day maybe when I move back to the states. Always so busy with something when I come home for a visit since its just a couple of times a year. Best chance is when I make a vegas visit, but skipping WSOP this year after going past 2. My wife has most of the summer free, and has been quite busy lately with her charity work, so going to try to make the most of it in Europe this summer. I wish WSOP was in January, would be nice to get out of the cold to Vegas when its not 120 degrees there.Originally Posted by fcdunkin

We'll see what happens, might not make it out this summer due to the US, but if I do will try to catch a show or two. Definitely not hitting Vegas this summer like the past 2, but was originally planning coming home in July for some family and friend time.
Last Phish show I saw was Great Cyrpess for NYE 2000. I hit about 50 shows from 92-00, but haven't hit one since due to moving around alot since then. Also hit many Dead shows from 89-95, showing my age :)
Thanks always for your positive vibes, best of luck to you as well. :) -
I did live in London for 3 years, and would like for both teams to somehow lose ;) Was disappointed with the Hot Spurs showing against Real Madrid yesterday, but was semi expected.
Guess if that's my choice, going to go with Arsenal. ;)
GL to you in next month's FTOPs, hope to see your name on the front page of P5s again for another FT. -
Heh, wouldn't describe you as a troll. I have been to Swizterland, but not in awhile. I was a poor graduating college student traveling around when I spent the most time in Switzerland. I remember it being the most expensive place I visited, but the nature was beautiful, the people were dynamic and multicultured, and the nightlife was fun if you had locals taking you around.

I don't play many tourneys, and haven't seen you at cash games I play, so no donations to me, but tournament poker at the mid/high stakes has alot of variance. If you feel you are playing well and getting unlucky, then hopefully the positive variance catches back up with you again. -

Congrats Wacky, always a pleasure to read your words and thanks for the nice work you do here... I am pretty new around here but this site really rocks and it is mainly because of guys like u !!!!
-
Thank you for the kind words. I love Switzerland even though I have only been there once. The people there were fun to party with at night, and lots of nature lovers during the day. It seems almost everyone speaks 1/2 dozen languages as well.

I sadly don't know Lithuania but I guess if you live there, it must be a very nice place to be !!!
Feel free to pm me if you go to Switzerland, it will be a pleasure to take you around the mountains, partying at night (very special in Vevey where I live, full of awesome peoples) and enjoying the different landscapes !!
You got it sooo right, multilingualism is very common here... I am at 4 now and going to the fifth very soon ;-)
Thanks for everything Wackyman and GL on the felt !!!!!
